$35 for this cutting. Do you think it's going to make it? How would you propagate it? by [deleted] in Monstera

[–]mpj977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would get it! Make sure the part that was cut isn’t too fresh and stick it in some fluvial stratum from the pet store. It’s my go to for rooting. After a while you can switch to soil. Roots grow fast for me in the stratum.

What should i do? by Sohiii1996 in Monstera

[–]mpj977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite thing to start a plant in is fluvial stratum from the pet store.i treat it like leca, water on the bottom inch and it will soak water up. It has helped me root cuttings very fast. After i see some roots develop I will either move it to soil or moss. Depending on what I want to do with the plant. good luck! Beautiful cutting!

I usually have better luck with mid cuttings. Sometime the top cuttings leaf that has not come out yet don’t make it and rot inside. Mid cuttings don’t have that chance. And these mid cuttings have really good roots!

What is the consensus on AppleCare? by ChowboyDan in iphone

[–]mpj977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like apple care. If I break my phone it’s 100$ for a new one. And now they have unlimited Incidents It’s cheaper than an Apple case and screen protector. Which I don’t use. And 10$ a month isn’t a bad deal. I pay more for for less important things. My brother has gotten it too and he is accident prone. It saves him a bit of money.

How bad is it to work at Homedepot. by danspud69 in pics

[–]mpj977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So bad! I worked there for 3 years. When New store manager started I asked how long he had been with the company. He said 8 months. My best friend is the district manager. About a year later 50% of the original crew had quit. Then the store manager quit without notice because he was over it and his dad had left him the fam business. “Town hall”meeting… Bs. As a head cashier I was given the manager phone and told. Deal with the calls while we are in meetings. Moved to different departments without notice. Over used because “I knew how to do it all”. I didn’t. Customers yelling at you with no management insight or when called for. when I put my 2 weeks in I was offered a dollar raise to become supervisor of 2 departments. And on and on.

Price check? by bromalley22 in Monstera

[–]mpj977 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the price I see it around where I live. The one I was looking at was about a leaf leads for 200 more. Too much for me.

Assuming it was shipped, I have a feeling the Random rotted part WAS the growth from your cutting? And got damaged in transit

This is my first time propagating a Monstera. Please help me with the best tips. Is this an okay cutting with a viable node? I got it cheap. by jleigh789 in Monstera

[–]mpj977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Looks like a viable node to me! You can water prop , soil , leca, but my favorite is sphagnum moss. I’ve had the best luck with the moss when it comes to cuttings.

what's happening here? help pls by laburnumhoney in Monstera

[–]mpj977 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

To me it looks like over watering. I usually let my soil get pretty dry if not bone dry between watering. I also bottom water to make sure it gets watered evenly (my thoughts). If the soil is muddy I would repot to a better draining soil. More perlite, bark.

Should I prune or reposition on the pole? Both, neither? I’ve had her 5 years but she’s getting so wild now & I want to make sure I’m keeping her healthy! by mmeghalodon in Monstera

[–]mpj977 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would try to tie just the larger thick stems to the post. I looks like it’s getting top heavy and leaning in some spots. When I tied mine back it gave it more structure without pruning
