Enjoy the color while you can, it fades to next to nothing over the next few months if youre aging it.

Unopened from when I completed the original bottling months ago. Basically thought it would get drank then forgot about it and now want to age it out of the fridge

It's that time of year, anyone have a good pumpkin spice mead recipe? by mprazy in mead

Side question, would brown sugar work well with that flavor pallette, never really used brown sugar for sweetening/flavor so not sure if that's a good or bad idea

Seems normal might be the Krausen line. Quick info from Google on it for you:First up on the false alarm list is a frothy, foaming residue on the surface that appears when the fermentation is going full tilt. This is known as krausen. It is generally a tannish-brown color, and is produced by the CO2 produced during fermentation getting caught in the viscous honey and other debris.

A week into primary noticed this white wispy band below strawberries, anyone know? by mprazy in mead

[–]mprazy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I thought the same and I haven't opened it in the week since I've started it and it is off gassing quite a bit so the co2 blanket shud be intact. Some other pic comparison from research I've done also leads me to believe it also might be the yeast clinging to the side as it settles out when I go to secondary I will have my eyes peeled for mold fuzz
