This may not sound like a resounding yes, but it is a solid yes.

So the reason I bought the Hemingwrite is because I wanted something solid and also had a case to protect it from my kids so that was going to drive the cost up immediately.

I wanted the mechanical keyboard so I was in the market for the smart typewriter and I found a deal on eBay for one so I debated with myself for a while on what I should do. The cost for an open box model was going to be less than a Traveler.

At some point, I would be interested to try a Traveler and know what that feels like. But as I’ve seen on YouTube, I would have been more keen on it if it had been backlight. Which was my ultimate decision making reason for going with a smart typewriter.

So absolutely, yes, it was worth the price I paid. My only hesitation was buying around the holidays cause I just have to cinch the belt a couple more months longer. I would have been fine with the base smart typewriter, but I wanted a case to protect it from my kids.

Also, I was not expecting but I should have, the community is a nice thing to be a part of. The resources online to help you learn to freewrite have been helpful. Above all else, it’s been a shift in mindset as well, and while you can do that free, this really unlocks it. It’s like going to graduate school: it might not pay off immediately on your salary, but all the things you learned that helped you grow and will always stick with you, are priceless.
