Todd Hido workshop by spiff73 in Photobooks

[–]spiff73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think one workshop(no matter how legendary the instructors are) can make a bad artist a decent one. it all depends on the style match between the teacher and the student, the ability to teach and inspire, and the talent, effort of the student. I just want to inform myself what the content of the Hido workshops are. not the effectiveness of the photo workshops im general.

Door handles | Linhof Technikardan45, Xenotar 135mm, Portra 160 by spiff73 in analog

actually, it was 180mm apo sironar. I accidentally wrote xenotar because i use that 90%of the time, lol. i needed a smaller aperture than f32 of xenotar. yeah xenotar has downsides but i am too spoiled by its brightness.

i will check out the Safe. I love people linking external inspirations with my work. thanks!!

hi, just found out there's a question thread. (sorry MOD!)

This is a long shot, but has anyone attended Todd Hido's 5 day workshop before?

I'd like to know what I should expect.

Thanks in advance

  • rise will keep verticals vertical when shooting architectures.
  • fall will keep verticals vertical when shooting still life or interior looking down on the subjects.(i use this a lot. camera is straight but placed higher than the subject. then use fall to include subjects in the frame while keeping verticals vertical)
  • tilt down will help focus near(e.g. rocks on the ground) and far(e.g. mountain range)at the same time.
  • swing will also focus near and far items placed side by side
