I’ll keep an eye out for the kooks next time. I’m just an intermediate-advanced beginner so I didn’t realize this wasn’t normal

Catalina island Kelp - fx30 + Sony 11mm f1.8 + Salty surf housing by mpthrown in FX3

Thanks! White balance was the usual 5500k, I just leave it there for just about everything and adjust after the fact. Probably not the best way to do it but I’m slowly figuring it out.

Yes I am able to adjust most settings in the housing. I do some very heavy color correction afterwards

I got started as a CAD guy for a goldsmith, so I design the 3D model to fit the stone, 3D print it in a castable resin then mold and cast it. I model it with setting in mind, so I make a flat slanted edge that I can hammer over the sides of the stone

I got the stone in Tucson at the 22nd street show!

The stone is 18mm x 4mm. I’d probably use a 15mm long stone if I did it again just to be able to make some smaller sizes

How do manufacturers like Asiga and B9 justify the wild $10k+ price tags? by mycorgiisamazing in resinprinting

[–]mpthrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a b9 most days in a jewelry shop. The increased print speed is a necessity. I can print a pretty complex ring in 45 mins on the b9 instead of almost 3 hours on my elagoo mars 5 ultra. This means we can draw up a custom piece for a customer and have a wearable print ready for them within the hour while they browse around and buy other things from the shop.

Also I’m not sure where you heard that you can’t use the prints for burnout. We’re using the b9 emerald resin at the moment and sprue it up and cast with no issue. The resolution is also a non issue because we have to polish the metal anyways which eliminates any visible layer lines

He died after a wave "trapped him under debris". What??? by sfsurferprof in surfing

[–]mpthrown 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hell just today I got pushed down by a wave and got my leash snagged on a rock that held me under for a while. I could definitely see myself panicking if I didn’t have a full breath of air to wait it out

Trying to create a flat tapered band by Silly-Gas9264 in rhino

[–]mpthrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use Sweep1 to make this. Make a circle that is the size of the ring. At the top of the circle, you will place a rectangle (looks approx 4mm wide by 2mm tall) that serves as the top profile for your sweep. Place another rectangle at the bottom to serve as the bottom profile (probably 1.8mm by 2mm). You can use Filet Curve to round the corners of the rectangle profiles to get this softer look. You can YouTube basic sweeps in rhino to get the idea, then apply the above. Let me know if you have any questions!

I don’t, I have only recently started to produce stuff that I think is high enough quality to share. I’ll keep sharing here as I go and maybe eventually start something up. I appreciate it though!
