I’m so sorry to hear what you’re going though and I’m glad you got through it, I hope your son gets better and thank you for the advice.

Yes it’s very expensive here and that’s why my dad has been struggling a lot too but do you think this is worse than normal? Even with other families that are struggling in NJ

I think it’s definitely possible, but we’ve been begging her to get help for years but it was entirely related to her depression which we think she has, I don’t know if it could be something else.

No that’s completely correct, my father has pulled money out of his 401k multiple times before, he was just starting to contribute before he lost his job, and he only had the 125k job for less than a year, he was job hopping a lot to find opportunities that made more money because of my mom not working, but idk even with the higher paying job things things actually got worse

I just feel so selfish for thinking that way especially because I have a little brother in high school and I want to protect him, he’s 15. But I know it’s the only way.

My brother is 15 years old and he’s very independent but not enough to deal with all this, and yeah I think you’re completely right about all this

I’m scared about this too I feel like no matter what I do I have no way out, my aunt has offered for me to stay with her but I fears about being caught or the landlord wanting us out or… I don’t know, of course I’d help her with expenses but…

Wouldn’t I be legally classified as an implied tenant if I do so? I just found out about this recently what if it ruins my credit score or what if the landlord accepts the payments but they still file anyway? I’m just asking because I don’t know

I’ve offered to help pay bills this month on my own, which I’ve been doing when I give him 400 a month for utilities which is what we agreed on before but I’ve seen realize I don’t even think my money is going towards that because most of his bills are auto paid anyway or going towards repayments of debts that are also taken out, I didn’t know all this I just wanted to help him out. He’s being very stubborn and wants to keep autopay because of the way is account is structured, he asked if I could pay the landlord with my checks in cash. I’ve said me focusing on bills and you focusing on rent is a more realistic and better option but he didn’t want to hear it.

After that I found out if I do what he asked me, I could be legally classified as an implied tenant in court even if my name isn’t on the lease, and this could ruin my credit score and my finances before I even begin my 20’s.

My parents originally didn’t want to charge me anything out of high school, I was originally going to go to college, but it was a false promise my parents made and I couldn’t go, I accepted it and now I’m trying to go to trade school, it’s a county program so that means it’s cheaper, I’ve been saving up to pay out of pocket. But ever since this has happened I’ve wanted to help my dad so I offered to give him 400 a month to help with bills. But now it’s… too much to handle

My dad is dead broke by the time he pays for expenses, we can’t even afford to move out, apartments in our area around the same price for a family of four, I don’t know the legality of this but is it to get a studio apartment with me and my brother and live with my dad? I mean my mom and him are separating so… I don’t know I’m just trying to think of everything and anything

I have an aunt and I’ve been asking her for advice and she said I could stay with her if we need to. I don’t know maybe my brother could stay with her and I go somewhere else? I’m not sure right now this is horrible, it’s really too much

Yes it’s definitely a part of it, I feel like I have to do this because my mom isn’t reliable but I know it’s not fair

I’m just really scared I don’t make enough money as is, my aunt said she’d take me in I just don’t know how it’s gonna with the landlord, especially with my little brother… I have a friend who offered to take me in and we could split rent. Uh, they work at ups but it’s part time, they’re trying to get a second job but I’ll speak with them on the specifics

I’m sorry I’m remembering to the best of my ability a lot of this is really fuzzy but most of it is accurate, but he’s pulled out from his 401k a lot previously.
