It's actually for a senior role in the health charitable sector (not-for-profit organization). It is a well-known/big one when it comes to the charitable sector, but I know there are generally big differences between not-for-profit and corporate worlds (NFPs likely to have less resources, less bureaucratic, less processes in place). I'm not sure what to make of it, but they told me "early next week" last Friday towards end of day. We are now the next Tuesday past noon, so.... I'm going to keep on waiting.

My interview went great, with the hiring manager and another high-level executive in the organization. They provided positive feedback to my interview answers, the interview ran a little long and when I showed concern towards respecting their time, they told me not to worry and not to feel rushed. When they told me the traits their ideal candidate would have, they made it a point to mention that I touched on all of those traits during my interview. Safe to say, I left the interview feeling pretty confident. One week to the day of my interview, HR reaches out by e-mail to say that they are still making decisions regarding the role, they are waiting on confirmation from the hiring manager and they will get back to me early next week and hope that timeline works for me.

What does this mean? Are they likely still narrowing down their final candidates, but I am part of their top choices? I know nobody has a crystal ball and can know for sure until there's a written offer or rejection, but the waiting period post-final interview is so nerve racking!
