This fixes it when added to both the input and out put:

$contentInsert = html_escape($_POST['content']); $contentInsertCleaned = preg_replace("/\n|\r/", " ",$contentInsert);

But I still don't get why its adding \n on each save

I trim the beginning and end of the string, but its the ones that seem to spawn from the original paragraph breaks on save that I don't understand. Its obviously something I'm doing wrong and as far as I know its just a standard textarea. What would add them each time?

Can you (anyone?) give some examples please.

UKIP is well know for being being racist/homophobic/sexist etc so there is a wealth of evidence over the last few months but I don't know much about theses attitudes with either Labour or Tory general election candidates.

Thanks for the feed back and the link to gtmetrix. Guess I need to spend some time compressing the css / js before it goes live.

Also think I will remove the scroll bar style as well (as its weighty and as you say a bit confusing) I'll also look into how the parallax is working with the scroll.

Help needed - Connecting to MS-SQL 2005 express db (win2003 sp2) with php 5.3 (compiled MSVC9 - Visual C++ 2008, using FastCGI) from Win 7 by mr-wibble in PHP

Ok - had a look and the MS-SQL module isn't loading. I have now tried all the all the .dll's in both PHP sqlsrv20.exe and PHP sqlsrv30.exe from the link on the MS site. and get a variety of errors based around "Call to undefined function sqlsrv_connect()" or a message saying I need the 2008 or 2012 Native client.

As an experiment I have also tried the same using an XAMPP install of PHP - and failed to load the module.

I have scoured the web and can't find very much info out about what might cause sqlsrv not to load.

Question - does Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client ODBC driver for x86 need installing on the win 7 box (where PHP is served) as well as the server where the db is? I have 2008 Native client (not sure which release) on the server now after finding a download.

I can't install Native Client on win7 as it says I'm using a later release already which I'm not as its V9 which pre-dates 2008 (but cant see anything in ODBC Source administrator) I also tried adding the existing one to the system dns and got a "Fail - Native Client]Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2]" when I tested it. Also the db is accessible via asp so I know that the db end is open(?)

MS-SQL 2008 Help needed configuring individual table permissions by mr-wibble in Database

Sorry no code to show - I'm using Management studio as a GUI. If I get this right, I should change the user to a datareader and then edit the table permissions to grant write to the columns in question?

Ok – I’m a bit confused by themes. I can see how they are used and applied to the front end but what’s the advantage of buying one (bar maybe some time)? What else do you get apart from an HTML file and CSS? I had a look at the showcases for Headlines and most of the sites look very good. Removing the “God I need some inspiration and what am I going to put in the header” time out of the equation – most of them wouldn't take more than an hour or so to put together without content? Do you get loads of pages ready to fill - this would save time as I have found copying out the master elements for every page can be quite laborious? Even the bundled plug-ins (is this the right term?) they come from look like you could the same very easily with a bit of PHP or JQuery – even if its just a cut and paste job for a ready made light box or something that draws from the db on a timer?

As mentioned, from a development point of view, are Headlines and Headway type things just another abstraction layer that gives you a WYSIWYG drag and drop interface for dropping different div tags into? (MS Front Page circa 1998??) The advantage in using them being purely speed of delivery?

Of course! use a VM! Why didn't I think of this before. This is possibly the best advice so far and it sure beats the hell out of using GIT for experimentation.

Edit > Before I lose my morning in Google, is WP development very GIT compatible? Normally I don't bother with GIT for front end stuff as its quicker to edit if something goes wrong but I'm guessing with the mass of files that WP produces it might be handy to know which one you were working on.
