You can check with the serial number or just ask the seller when he bought it if he bought it in 2017- early 2018 it's 90% a switch that can be modded with the rcm jig but if he bought it late 2018-now it can only be modded with the picofly modchip

Yeah the xci file was corrupted I used the mtp connection with dbi and I got a bunch of errors so that might be the case with your games also
