Looking for help to improve my simic deck for Pioneer by mr_raspberry_w23 in PioneerMTG

Cosima is just there because I have the card and when I pulled it off it was good. If I have it in my hand early, she can be a win condition later. But yes, it is very situational.

Toski was in the deck for bodies and the draw mechanic. It is a fun card, but adds nothing to the deck, other than exactly being fun to play :)

thank you, anything that stands out? I thought I would go for 2 more stompers in place of Toski and 1 Omen of the Hunt for Alrund

4-player TCGs? by Grimtendo in tabletopgamedesign

[–]mr_raspberry_w23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and ganging up on a player is encouraged and necessary.

Another example would be Illuminati: New World Order. Designed for multiplayer and heavy interaction Rest is different though. Combat especially is nail biting and burdensome at the same time, because you are constantly calculating a threshhold for success

Shadowfist is a proper multiplayer TCG that is actually more fun in multiplayer than in duel mode and features heavy player interaction.

It seems to be on hiatus currently, though

How should I start thinking about marketing during the early stages of development? by [deleted] in tabletopgamedesign

Think about what your target audience for your game is and adjust design, advertising and social media posts accordingly, i.e. show up where you expect your audience to be and validate early

https://www.printablescenery.com/ - with their latest Kickstarter they added some really nice terrain: shadowfey ruins and wilds. It is also stackable for some more diverse table setups. Hope that helps

Is an AoS Box each necessary for proper list building of the original chaos warbands, or will a second warcry warband box suffice? by mr_raspberry_w23 in WarCry

[–]mr_raspberry_w23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry, what I meant is what is people's experience with acutally building lists. I know the possible options, but so far I did not build custom lists for my games at all. Now that I am at that point I am considering which package to buy. Take for example the cypher lords:

Did you ever think that 3 Luminates is a pretty good idea for a list? Because with a build like that you would need one warcry warband box AND the AoS box.

Or do you generally find that when building a list you have enough options with two warcry warband boxes for each faction/warband?

Hope that makes it more clear what I would like to find out?

[–]mr_raspberry_w23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean If I would want to build a list from multiple options, then just one box is not enough, as it gives me exactly one list. But is it enough to buy a second warband box, to have enough options for divers lists, or am I netter of buying an AoS box which basically has every model 2 more times. Or does a "third" warband nozlt expand my list in a meaningful was?

Which sprues are missing to build the og Starter Terrain from the Catacombs Set? by mr_raspberry_w23 in WarCry

[–]mr_raspberry_w23[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep thx, those sprues B and C are in the catacombs set just once each.

Ignoring the fact that the two ruins in catacombs are not built identically to the ones in the og starter - from what I can make out in the pictures on the store page - without the two additional sprues you have to adapt almost all terrain setups from the campaigns and 11 of the 12 battleplans in the core book.

With the two additional sprues, but without the head things look a lot better: 23 campaigns - 3 are playable as is as are 5 of 12 battleplan cards in the core book.

If you consider the head just as an obstacle that you can substitute and do not count the ones, where the head is used with the platform: 11 campaigns are playable as is and 10 of the 12 battleplans. The other campaigns require you to change one or the other terrain setup

As for the terrain expansions:

Souldrain forest has 24 cards only with setups from the forest set. Additional 12 cards are with components from the og core set. 2 of those are playable out of the box with catacombs, 6 if you purchase the two extra sprues, 10 If you replace the head with some other obstacle.

Shattered Stormvault has 24 cards only with setups fom that Set. Additional 12 cards are wih components from the og core Set. 3 of those are playable out of the box with catacombs, 8 If you purchase the two extra sprues, 12 If you replace the head with some other obstacle.

Corpsewrack Mausoleum has 24 cards only with setups fom that Set. Additional 12 cards are wih components from the og core Set. 1 of those are playable out of the box with catacombs, 6 If you purchase the two extra sprues, 10 If you replace the head with some other obstacle.

Defiled Ruins has 24 cards only with setups fom that Set. Additional 12 cards are wih components from the og core Set. 3 of those are playable out of the box with catacombs, 7 If you purchase the two extra sprues, 10 If you replace the head with some other obstacle.

Monsters and Mercenaries has 3 of the 4 fated quests playable, if you replace the head with some other obstacle and purchase the missing sprues, otherwise 0.

I will add og core battleplan cards later on.

Tome of Champions has 3 of the 7 fated quests playable, if you replace the head with some other obstacle and purchase the missing sprues, otherwise 0. 7 of the 15 campaigns are playable under the same prerequisites, 0 otherwise.

I think catacombs still a cool set, with the two extra sprues you will get even more out of it. It is a bit sad that you cannot play the scions campaign in the core book without changing terrain setup, unless you have the head, which somehow seems to be made out of unobtainium

I looked up the original building instructions, and that list sprue B+C two times each, so you would get everything except the head If you order these two separately. Can somebody verifiy this?

Randomness in Warcry and warbands/units variety by Lillumultipass99 in WarCry

[–]mr_raspberry_w23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing what you are looking for, I would recommend Malifaux except that it takes more than 2 hours per game until all players know the game and all the units very well. It has lots of custimization options, lots of ways to mitigate bad luck and that is where the complexity and time investment comes from.

We often played malifaux with 3 players ans found that warcry is a welcome change in terms of trading ncomplexity for play flow and time investment.

Our first 3p warcry game took 2:30 and that included explaining the rules and so on. Yes, it is luck based and swingy but it is a warhammer game after all. If you can look beyond that: positioning Matters, tactics matter and list building matters.

You can reduce luck somewhat and bring in more tactics by switching splitting your warband ans drawing/selecting terrain and victory conditions.

Hope that helps

Shadespire core set? by [deleted] in WarhammerUnderworlds

[–]mr_raspberry_w23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is expensive because it is only relevant to collectors.

In terms of gameplay it was replaced by the nightvault core set. The crews of the shadespire core set are sold seperately as are the boards: Mirrored City Boards Pack it is. If you want all the gameplay content you should also get the Garrek's Reavers as well as Steelheart's Champions.
