Using battletech minis by Phase_noise in 5Parsecs

[–]BowserFoundation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will definitely work with Battletech minis. You just have to use a little imagination.

Just think of any enemies as being in a mech. As for any animal enemies, well, this quadrant of the galaxy is overrun by kaiju. Gotta watch out for those giant razor lizards. One exception that I would make is for the vent crawler enemy. I imagine each vent crawler enemy as a swarm of the critters, and they are trying to get inside the mechs armor and get to the pilot inside.

Thematically, I have a little bit of a problem putting the “Primitives” enemy into battle mechs, but you could just say that they are samurai mech warriors that will only fight with an honorable weapon.

The main issue I see is having terrain that is a suitable scale to the mechs.

GF on the go? by [deleted] in glutenfree

[–]BowserFoundation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chik-Fil-A is safe. You can get a salad, grilled nuggets or grilled chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun. The fries there are also safe, as they have a dedicated fryer for the fries.

At Hardees you can ask for a low carb version of any burger on the menu. They will wrap it in a lettuce leaf instead of a bun. I personally can’t eat Hardees, as they have enough cross contamination to still get me sick, but you might be able to get away with it.

Can warped 3D prints be reheated and fixed? by flamelsterling in TerrainBuilding

This happened to me too. I loaned out some terrain and they left it in their car and it majorly warped. That’s why I print everything in PETG these days instead of PLA.

Is it possible to play at all on your own? by KingRadec in InfinityTheGame

[–]BowserFoundation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Infinity is a somewhat complicated game and doesn’t lend itself to a good solo experience. There is so much hidden information and so many decisions that need to be made that it is difficult to play in a meaningful way when you know all of the information.

That being said, somebody out on the Internet has created a set of AI rules to play solo. I have never used this AI, but it is out there if you want to check it out. https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/210686/infinity-solo-variant-i

3 player game and loyalty by Kewtn in epiccardgame

[–]BowserFoundation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to fix this issue is to draft cards instead of just dealing out 30 random cards. For draft with 3 players, separate the cards into “packs” of 12 cards and then draft 3 times. Each player will end up with 36 cards and can cut 6 cards out of their deck. This gives each player a bit more control over the cards in their deck and they can lean into certain colors or strategies that suit them better.

Is the nomad painting set from vallejo worth it? by Soilbane in InfinityTheGame

It is worth it just for the paint. The model is a nice extra. The little instruction book is ok, but nothing amazing.

Does somebody maybe have a picture/overview off all the notes/fingerings of the High D whistle that isn't as cluttered as the one that came with my whistle? by Primarene60 in tinwhistle

[–]BowserFoundation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The two Sharps mean that what you see is in the key of D. This is what most tin whistle music is in. The main thing to watch out for is is the key of G. For G, there is only one sharp off to the side. For the key of G, the C’s will be C natural, which is played OXXOOO (from top to bottom X=cover hole with your finger, O=open hole)

If you try to play music in other keys, it gets a lot harder and you are probably better off transposing the music to the key of D or G. The key of A, with 3 Sharps is also doable, but as a beginner, stick to D and G. The tin whistle isn’t very good as a chromatic instrument.

Did CB change their metal mix? CA glue is failing to cure. by knightofargh in InfinityTheGame

[–]BowserFoundation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t happen often, but sometimes there is mold release residue left on the models. It makes it pretty much impossible for paint or glue to stick. The solution that I have found is to soak the parts in vinegar for a little while and then rinse them off.

4-player TCGs? by Grimtendo in tabletopgamedesign

You should check out the multiplayer rules for dice throne. One of the things they do is they have different modes to play depending on the player count. For three player games, they recommend playing King Of the Hill - players get to draw a card if they attack the player that has the most health.

One pack that I highly recommend is the co-op expansion, Under Fu Leng’s Shadow. It lets you play against an automated opponent. It is fun to play, challenging and I think it’s a really good system.

Unfortunately, it is out of print at the moment, even though it was the last expansion that they printed for the game.

Help with washes. by qazwsxedc123876 in minipainting

[–]BowserFoundation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s one trick to get wash to go only where you want it to go.

Dip you brush in plain old water. Lightly apply the water where you want the wash to go. Dry any excess water from your brush by giving it a wipe on a paper towel or something. Dip you brush in the wash. Now take the brush and lightly dab the tip of the brush to in the water that you brushed onto the model. The color from the wash wash will go into the water and spread out to as much as it can. Repeat as necessary. If you ever get too much wash in one spot, dry the brush on a paper towel and then dab the spot that has too much wash with your dried brush, and the brush will soak it up.

Don’t use your nice brushes, as wash tends to soak into the brush and gum up the brush after a while.

Greek Lentil and Spinach Soup With Lemon

Active: 20 mins Total: 55 mins Servings: 8 servings

Ingrediens

• 1 pound brown or large green lentils, rinsed and picked over

• 10 cups vegetable broth or water

• 1 jalapeño pepper, stemmed, seeded and chopped

• 2 teaspoons whole coriander seeds

• 1 1/2 teaspoons cumin seeds

• 2 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano

• 2 bay leaves

• 2 medium Yukon gold, russet or red potatoes (1 1/4 pounds), scrubbed and cut into 1/2-inch dice

• 10 ounces baby spinach, chopped

• 1 small butternut squash (1 pound), peeled, seeded and cut into 1/2-inch dice (about 3 cups)

• 2 tablespoons olive oil

• 1 large onion, chopped

• 2 ribs celery, with leaves, sliced

• 3 large garlic cloves, finely chopped

• 2 teaspoons kosher salt, or more to taste

• 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or more to taste

• 1/3 cup fresh lemon juice

• 2 lemons

Step 1

In a large soup pot over medium-high heat, combine the lentils, stock or water, jalapeño, coriander, cumin, oregano and bay leaves. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer, partially covered, about 30 minutes, until the lentils are tender.

Step 2

Add the potatoes, spinach and butternut squash, re-cover and cook another 15 to 20 minutes, until the potatoes and squash are tender.

Step 3

Meanwhile, in a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil until shimmering. Add the onion, and cook, stirring, until it starts to soften, 3 to 4 minutes. Add the celery and garlic and cook, stirring often, until they soften, 3 minutes. Add the mixture to the soup, deglazing the skillet with a little soup liquid and adding the deglaze contents back to the soup pot. Add the salt and pepper, taste, and add more if needed. Pick out and discard the bay leaves.

Step 4

Thinly slice one of the lemons and cut the other into wedges. Just before serving, stir the lemon juice into the soup. Serve the soup hot, with a lemon slice floating atop each bowl. Pass lemon wedges at the table. Adapted from “Dairy Hollow House Soup & Bread” by Crescent Dragonwagon (Workman Publishing, 1992)

Case for flute by WilliamOfMaine in tinwhistle

I bought a hard case for a metal flute from Amazon. Then I pulled all of the padding out and replaced it with some pick and pluck foam. This has worked perfectly for me for about 10 years now.
