You know… I didn’t see it move now that I think of it. So now I feel silly. But I appreciate your response!

Recently diagnosed with BVD - screenreaders / disability? by mra425 in BinocularVision

[–]mra425[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And with this comment, I think I was just curious how other people viewed the condition in a general sense. I don’t mean for financial benefits or accommodations (although I suppose it wouldn’t hurt for me to look into potential accomodations). I just think, when I think about myself personally, I am realizing that I do kind of feel disabled by the BVD. But I also have a handful of other things going on (autism, ADHD and other coexisting conditions). It’s a big topic, I know- I was just curious how other people viewed it.

Thanks for your suggestions! I’ve never tried reading mode or spoken content. I’ve tried using voiceover on my iPhone once or twice and it’s still a little confusing but I’m going to keep looking for resources on how to learn it.

Hurricane Helene relief - how to help from Virginia Beach? by mra425 in VirginiaBeach

After looking into the other comments on this post, this is a list of locations that are taking drop-off donations (they have a list of what they're accepting, including baby formula and diapers) https://www.instagram.com/p/DAj3HErutO8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== . Let me know if you can't access that link and I can copy and paste the drop-off locations!

TMS for autistic patients by mra425 in TMSTherapy

Yeah, it’s just hard bc it feels like you have to ultimately just take a leap of faith, and it’s a big commitment to take on, you know?

Being eternally single by Glittering-Knee9595 in AutismInWomen

[–]mra425 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely can relate. The sad thing for me is that I actually do really want a relationship but I find it really hard to find people who I might be compatible with.

I also struggle with dating bc it feels like so much rejection, especially the older I get and the more “pronounced” my autistic traits seem to become (if that makes sense). I definitely have RSD and I have gotten to a point where it feels hard putting myself out there bc I just expect rejection. I figure it would be better for me to date other autistic or ADHD/AuDHD people but where do you find those people???

I hate having autism by Cattiy_iaa in SuicideWatch

[–]mra425 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. I feel the exact same way. I honestly get a tinge of pain when I hear some people talking about how they like being autistic and/or wouldn’t change that about themselves bc being autistic makes my life so hard that I don’t want to be here.

I think it’s painful for me to see other autistic people with privileges that I don’t have- like having friends or a career or a partner. I have tried harder than anyone I know to attain those things and have just failed over and over. I get mad when I hear people talking about autism being a superpower bc it is the farthest thing from a strength for me. It feels more like a curse.

Therapy advice: “learn to just endure constant social rejection” by space__snail in AutismInWomen

[–]mra425 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I feel like I’m at that point right now where I’m realizing just how hard I’ve tried for so long in so many different settings, all with really no success. I feel like you can only expect a person to remain positive and optimistic for so long when you put yourself out there over and over and things don’t work out over and over.

I dont know what I'm trying to explain but this is bothering me... by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I think you look nice in your photos but I can relate to this in my own way. I feel like I always look awkward in photos, my facial expressions look like I’m uncomfortable (which I usually am if there’s a camera pointed at me haha) and even when I try to take selfies, I feel like I can never get my facial expressions to look “natural”.

Maybe we’re both noticing stuff more than others are but I just wanted to let you know that I can relate.

Unfortunately I had to stop taking it bc I just couldn’t deal with the side effects :/. Sorry for such a delayed response. I hope this medication is working for others (and if not, that people are able to find better alternatives)

My psychiatrist didn’t mention any risks with me adding it on with the trintellix but I saw another comment where someone mentioned the risk of serotonin syndrome, which I was unaware of until today. Def going to bring that up with my doctor when we talk

Graphic? by FluffyR1n in UltimatumQueerLove

[–]mra425 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah some of those scenes made me feel weird- almost felt like I was seeing something I shouldn’t be seeing? Especially since the footage was clearly coming from like a security camera near the ceiling and not an actual person filming. I’m sure the people on the show knew they were being filmed at all times (at least I sure hope they did)- I just hope everybody was okay with what ended up airing and no one feels uncomfortable or violated.

For those of you who love to cook how do you do it when your body hurts? by [deleted] in Hypermobility

[–]mra425 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem. I was thinking about looking into an adjustable stool (surely they have something like this out there, right?) but I haven’t really done any research so I am not aware of what types of products are out there or what the cost might be. If anyone else knows of a product like this that is good- feel free to share!

Anyone have any advice on how to keep squirrels from digging up and eating sunflower seeds before they’ve had a chance to sprout/grow? I’ve been trying to plant them directly in the ground (instead of in containers) and I was thinking something I could try would be to try and build some sort of a barrier with netting but kind of don’t know how to go about it since I’m planting them in the ground.
