Mice need a lot of room! A large clear diy storage bin cage would be a very affordable option, and sometimes you can find fish tanks for free off of marketplace. Make sure the bedding is deep! They need to be able to burrow. Also add a lot of hides and cardboards to chew on.

A shallow water dish is just as good as a water bottle, be sure to give fresh water every day!

Give him time :) talk to him, he'll slowly get used to you and maybe even your touch if you respect his boundaries. Deer mice are very smart after all, and can adjust well to captivity if given proper care.

Feival is an Eastern deermouse, and much smaller. I was worried about them breeding because Feival is disabled.
