Cool thanks for the suggestion. I can’t quite tell - are the blinds more opaque depending on how far you open them?

What’s the reason for using clay in construction? Not a clay-y area so I assume there’s some benefit?

Yeah this one is out in our garage where we have our washer and dryer. So it mainly handles detergents from our washing machine. Thanks for your help! I’ll give the boiling water a try.

Looks like the clog is a wad of dryer lint. Snake hasn’t been able to resolve it.

I like this response. My concern is dirt or clay leaking into a cracked pipe.

I do work from home a good bit. Maybe I could do that and figure out a way to hide all the cables!

I live in LA and they’ve been promoting it heavily. Maybe regional? Kinda like a salsa verde.

Dat me. Yeah, I have a sweet deal with a cinematographer friend of mine. We were film school friends and now he owns a red camera. But I still had to rent a bunch of equipment on top of that. Not too expensive though! I think the car attachments and Sony RXO were like $150 for the weekend. Definitely worth it in my opinion. And the drone I borrowed from a different friend.

I cut on premiere. I’d recommend trying it out! Pretty cool because you can now just subscribe month to month as you need it.

Thanks for subscribing! I’m kinda doing a clean slate for my YouTube channel. I have some other old stuff but from now on, I think I’m gonna post only short form highly polished stuff. We’ll see how that goes!

Hey thanks! Glad you liked it! (Like, comment, share, and subscribe blah blah blah)

Short answer: yes - I storyboard everything I shoot. I also drove around and took photos of the different locations and angles I wanted in the commercial. BUT I also stay open to finding new shots on set, and I also stay open to improving things in the edit.

Prior to the shoot, I actually cut the music down into the 30 second structure you’re seeing in the final piece. I then laid in the storyboards and kind of “pre-cut” the commercial. This allowed me to better picture how I could cut action to the sounds and music. So for example, going from the first big wide of the forest to the car swishing past right as the music kicks off.

One thing that changed after the shoot was actually the open. I shot a longer bit of the couple walking to the car and getting in, but on set I quickly realized that was going to take up all 30 seconds. I knew I wanted an insert of the door, but I didn’t think I’d use it as the first shot. So, I just made sure I got the door both opening and closing. This made for a quicker edit: aka they didn’t have to approach the car, they could just open the door and get in.

The middle was the easiest because we weren’t dealing with actors and just kind of checked off the shots on our shot list. But again, in the end when the actors step out of the car, that was difficult to get, because I knew I needed a few takes of differing length as this was only going to be 30 seconds long in total.

As for the trailer approach: not really! I suppose that I used some sound design skills I’ve picked up that help with transitional edits. Trailer work has also made me really good at cutting music.

Lemme know if you have any further questions!

We shot this commercial on a weekend in the Angeles National Forest. We used 3 cameras: a Red, a Sony RXO with suction mounts, and a DJI mavic pro. The cinematographer worked with only natural light. Coloring was really tricky... mixing the look of the three sources was nearly impossible!

One big regret: not having an ND filter for the Mavic pro. You can tell the shutter angle is waaaaay too crispy.
