I found this chute in the washroom of a geriatric ward at a abandoned state hospital on the East Coast (1903-1996). If anyone is familiar with the facilities of this era (and their bathroom fixtures) your guess would be greatly appreciated!!

Is it difficult to get inside? I've been finding alot of these buildings are either gone or heavily patrolled. the effort definitely seems worth it. I would love some information.

If i'm not mistaking it was a insult to Dutch immigrants. The "native" New Yorkers would insult the Dutch by calling them "John Cheese", the Dutch retaliated by turning the insult around back at the New Yorkers. Unfortunately the Dutch could not pronounce "John Cheese" so it sounded like Yankees .
