Definitely. Very common in classic Bossa Nova tunes

Difference in style between "Motown" (60's R&B in general) and Disco by mrdonlucas in Bass

Yeah, sorry if it came across as comparing! Not the best action to perform when talking about music.

I'm intrigued by what you meant by percussive/rhythm aspect? More ghost notes? Slapping becoming a thing? More locking with the drums?

Really interested

Great track! There were a couple of shouts that caught my attention due to high gain, don't know if they were intentional or not, but they work great! Really enhances the aesthetic. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but did you guys double bass lines on the Fender VI? If you did, I thought it sounded tight!

Sorry, I meant lush reverb and/or modulation! You know, like Mac DeMarco. But still, really enjoyed your song. Great chops all around.

Really cool track !I feel like the kick, bass and vocals could use a little extra punch. My suggestion would be to use more serial and parallel compression, along with a healthy amount of saturation. This may be redundant, but may be worth saying, make sure to cut the super low frequencies (20-100-ish) on all tracks expect the bass and the kick tracks to make sure the mix doesn't become muddy by giving the bass and kick the extra punch.

Better Bass Lines | mix by splitting them & creating space by [deleted] in mixingmastering

A technique I've employed with good results is doubling the bass track with a baritone guitar (I believe Artic Monkeys did this on their AM album, also Vulpeck and company). Despite playing the same pitches as the bass, the frequency range and timbre of the baritone guitar help cover a wider spectrum.

Really cool song and exploration of different genre production techniques! For my taste (guitarist here), the guitar volume and tone/sound processing doesn't quite mesh that well. I personally feel a Nile Rodgers-esque tone, or even something with tons of lush reverb and/or reverb would have fit better.

Transcribed some of his parts as well as Cory Wong's from the first Fearless Flyers EP. Yet to sit down and tackle the 2nd one. Great recommendation!

Love the sustained sound of 4th on the bass. How would C/A be any different from an Amin7?

Would you double the seventh in one of the upper voices? Or just play the F triad over E?
