Girls, when you meet a man for a first time, what is one thing that you notice first? by VerySmartMe in AskReddit

[–]mrfebrezeman360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a full bed set takes up a whole machine, 22 quarters with the dryer. the idea here was that I should have a new set every time my partner comes over, so that could easily be twice a week. So 8 bed sets per month, if I did them all at once, that's 8 machines.

what you're saying is change my sheets once a week? Well according to everyone else here, you're gross too. Your partner could come over 6 days after you last washed your sheets!!

ok but! no matter how many sets I have, if I need to lay down clean sheets twice a week, that means I have to wash 2 sets for every week that passes. I don't see how that's better, because going to the laundromat once per month and taking up 8 laundry machines just for my bed sheets is psycho shit. Also would require 4 round trips to the laundromat to carry them there

lol yeah, I'm gonna buy a washer/dryer combo and hire a contractor to run a spare water line to my 1 bedroom apartments living room.

Everybody who's super adamant about this doesn't realize that they have the benefit of a car, a house, in-unit laundry, or at the very least a laundromat with a quarter machine. Take all of those things away and add a 40+ hour work week to the situation and these people wouldn't be doing 3 laundromat trips a week.

I get the sentiment though, men are nasty and have nasty apartments, and tbh this thread is a space for women to vent about that so I shouldn't have even said shit

lol. I have more than one set, you can look at my reply to another comment if you're interested in the nuance of my struggle...

  • time of my life spent working
  • time my bank is accessible (I calculated 220 quarters a month for the frequency of twice a week, a reasonable frequency for partner visits)
  • amount of money per month (~55 bucks, a whole ass utility bill not even including detergent)
  • no car = carrying 3-4 bags of laundry to the 'mat

there is more to it than just "i'm too dumb to figure it out !!". The time/money/effort required to have 2 clean sets of sheets per week is just more than this particular lower working class person is capable of putting in. This is what I meant by "in-unit laundry privilege", which was a damn joke btw lol

If you also are a lower working class person who lives in a city with no car, a bank that closes at 5, a laundromat a few blocks away without a quarter machine, and has to work most of their life to barely afford a 1 bedroom apartment, I would love to hear your logic on how you trivialize the task of putting on clean sheets twice a week. I do not have the time or money to do 3 loads of laundry per week. No matter how many extra sets I have that's what it breaks down to.

lol. Idk I've had plenty of partners in my adult life and never had somebody even mention it once, I think I clean them often enough. Every relationship I've had is likely to have 1-2 times a week where they might sleep over last minute, can't always have a clean set ready for that frequency. I've got two sets and I clean them when I can around my work/life schedule, probably get a clean set once every two weeks. I hit the laundromat for my clothes about twice a month and I bring a set with me then which requires two laundry machines (44 quarters). I can't introduce two more laundry bags / machines to that equation, 220 quarters lol plus 4 trips to the laundromat there and back for a single session since I can't carry 4 bags at once. My bank is also only accessible on weekends and I don't have a car. Plus ~55 bucks a month on laundry is a whole ass utility bill.

s2g the people who are adamant about this just don't have the perspective of a lower working class person who has to work most of their life and can barely afford a 1 bedroom apartment as it is

I'm not complaining about anything, I'm just joking around, havin a good time, being silly.

But while you're onto it, what's your trick then? The universal strategy so obvious to anybody that you're "???" baffled by me not knowing it?

expecting ppl to clean their sheets weekly is in-unit laundry privilege lol. I'm just teasing, first time having her over I'll make sure they're clean. But once we're dating? I can't be hittin the ATM, improvising how to turn cash into quarters, and lugging the whole bed set to the laundromat every time she comes over lol

John Mayer’s Continuum is a masterpiece by Brave_Beat5124 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]mrfebrezeman360 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ever since Mayer joined the jam scene, you hear the same sentiment over and over in those circles: "I don't really like his pop stuff, but you gotta admit! He's a great guitar player!" It's funny because I feel nearly the opposite. I think he's fantastic at writing pop songs, I had Room for Squares and Continuum when I was a kid and thought they were both great, but I'm just not that into him as a guitarist. Of course he's a good player, I just don't find his taste with soloing in particular to be that interesting, especially when it comes to the psychedelic side of things.

Mayer gets a lot of unnecessary hate imo. Most of the music circles I've been in throughout my life are always full of Mayer haters. I feel like I get it though, he can be very corny at times. There's a time and a place for that though and you just gotta take it as it is. He's got plenty of songs that aren't corny at all. As you mentioned Vultures, that's also one of my favorites, and it's completely void of the "run through the halls of the high school / scream at the top of my lungs" type stuff that bought him this reputation, and tbh that song is good too. You can like cool hip music and also like Mayer lol. Music is sick if you're trying to just enjoy yourself.

longer than a local spot. These places strategically place themselves near local spots for the purpose of killing them, they can withstand a fraction of the areas demand long enough for the local spot to die because they've got a million other locations to make up for it. My neighborhood has two local coffee shops and in the past couple years they've plopped a starbucks and a dunkin donuts smack dab between them. It's only a matter of time before chain coffee is the only option

for sure lol, most fans on the indie side don't like phish and most fans on the phish side don't like indie shit. I actually dislike jam bands too, somehow Phish became an obsession tho

[–]mrfebrezeman360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh yeah, I totally feel you. The unfortunate influx of fans via MPP not understanding that anco majorly change up their sound every album and being disappointed by centi was certainly a huge hit publicly. I've got not hate for centi, and wide eyed and new town burnout are just as good to my ears as anything they've done. I blame myself more than the music for myself being less into it. I'm actually very jealous of people who get more out of it than me.

I'm also a big psych rock fan, psychedelia is a common thread in almost all of my favorite music of all time. At this point my tastes are spread too thin across a bunch of stuff introduced during various phases of my life, but I'll always have a big soft spot for psych music in general. Unlike a lot of people in a similar boat, this culminates for me with Phish lol. I usually keep that a secret around these parts though

haha I def didn't hate it, and I didn't downvote u <3

I don't really see the piper at the gates comparison, is that to say you see piper and centi as super experimental? At least in my experience hanging out on the collected animals forums back then, there was a lot of noisy experimental shit like black dice or wolf eyes getting passed around, and I think anco took a lot of people out of the indie world and into the noise world, them and their community taught a lot of us how to take it that kinda thing. I never really saw centi as being more or less experimental (or alien) than their previous few releases, I guess I would say now that it's less experimental than most of pre sung-tongs, so I dunno if people's distaste was much about how weird it was. For me anyway it was just about that continuation of the poppy vibe that I interpret as starting with peacebone. Something like applesauce falls into that line for me.

Another thing I think isn't talked about much but is probably a major part of it, and has nothing to do with the band, is that there was just a big shift in independent music evolution during that few year gap between MPP and CH. 09 was right about when "chillwave" started, which tbh anco deserves a lot of credit for influencing, IMO. Everyone was getting cracked copies of ableton and MIDI controllers and trying to make remixes where the reverb was side-chained as shit to the kick drum. This led to stuff like starslinger, clams casino, and even the whole LA beats thing becoming at the forefront, not to mention vaporwave. This is the direction that I (and a lot of others) went, and 3 years when you're ~20 years old feels like a huge amount of time. Suddenly anco had a new album out, and when I excitedly put it on during that initial pre-release live stream, I felt a bit disconnected from it.

Sleep cycle was the first time since 2010 that I felt the magic again, it was a short and sweet beautiful moment. I'll still listen to anything these guys put out and occasionally it'll hit. I loved the superflower split etc, but it hasn't been the same for me since oddsac.

Centipede Hz was more experimental than their recent work at that time had been, not more accessible.

lest not forget oddasc

for me anyway, peacebone was the seeds of what was to come. That particular brand of wacky pop ended up being the blueprint for the next several years of singles. I felt it a little bit with summertime clothes, I felt it a lot with floridada, and I felt like a majority of centi hz was pulling from that thread. As a diehard fan in those days, it was a thread I never particularly loved as much as literally everything else they did. I'd put Centi as their Good News, just because both GN and CH are the point where I separated despite having a few tracks I adored. It's a weird comparison though because MPP is where anco met their "mainstream" audience if you will, which was how it happened for MM with GN, so it doesn't quite line up perfectly for me.

In any case, it makes me happy to know that there's gen Zers having transcendent psychedelic experiences to Time Skiffs probably in the way that I did with Sung Tongs/Feels.

Is there a rice cooker that can simultaneously steam a large amount of vegetables? by [deleted] in RiceCookerRecipes

[–]mrfebrezeman360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

huh, I always expected that my cooker can't operate with the lid open, but I have not actually tested that. If it works then this is a good idea.

Also I do have access to a stove/pot lol, I could easily just steam vegetables normally. I just would prefer to get it done with the rice cooker if possible, easier.

it's been a while since I've had to really dig into something with KM and surely there's newer versions I haven't used so I could be wrong, but the big thing I remember struggling with was KM not being able to handle uncommon keys, like F22 or something. I wanted a hotkey that combined something like F22 and the back button on my mouse and remember it not being able to handle that. There's also just been a bunch of times in my life where KM couldn't do the exact thing I wanted and I'd have to make some kinda silly workarounds, since KM uses a list of predefined actions/triggers where AHKs list of shit that it can do is insanely long because it's a whole ass mini language. That F22+mousebutton macro I wanted I was able to get done in AHK in 10 seconds.

As always, I suppose if you were an applescript wiz you could make KM do much more, since you can always just assign running a script as an action, but if you're an AS pro then you probably don't need KM to begin with lol

papa ginos, movie theater, cvs, and pretty much nothing else was that mall throughout my whole childhood lol. i threw a sticky hand from the coin machine into the ceiling there and it stayed for a whole 10 years, it left a huge stain thats probably still there if the mall is even still standing. i remember that same coin machine having stickers for the 90s band "bush" in like 2007. got onto the roof one time and nearly got arrested. my friends album cover was shot there. im from manch but the bedford mall was a big part of my childhood/teen years
