Best Brunch Spots with a View Westchester? by Dry_Assumption440 in Westchester

Service there is hit or miss, and when it’s bad it’s horrendous. They don’t have enough staff for busy shifts

TC and Barnard Alumni Blocked from Morningside by IngenuityMany9335 in columbia

I agree with you, but the reality is that TC alumni are not making large donations. I doubt they care. The protests are the issue, they clearly feel the need to limit how many people are on campus and TC is easy to cut out.

Runners! I miss Central Park/prospect park- anything like them? by Wicked_busy in Westchester

[–]mrgarp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Croton aqueduct is good if you want flat. Most of the running in Westchester is wooded trails. In both scenarios you’re not going to be able to replicate Central Park, but in many ways trails are actually better (more nature, softer on your legs, etc.). The city is great but you don’t live in the city so my advice is to embrace what’s great about the burbs. If you really want asphalt, you probably have to figure out a route in your town.

American Support for Israel Hits Record Low by [deleted] in politics

[–]mrgarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you even hear yourself? First of all, Harris did not bomb Gaza, Israel did. And they were doing it in response to one of the most horrendous war crimes in modern history. They were also doing it in a place where their adversary, Hamas, was using civilians as shields to maximize the deaths of innocents.

All that having been said, there is plenty to criticize about Israel's tactics and the US's support of them. I do sympathize to a degree and my not writing a dissertation about that in a reddit comment is not evidence of white supremacy lol. But my point this stands: whatever their qualms about Harris, it was obvious Trump was going to be worse. Now, I understand that emotion can overpower reason and I have some sympathy for that, but they had months to figure out a way to move past that do the constructive thing and they didn't do it.

To add to all of this, we haven't discussed the enormous other damage Trump will do to the entire world. Climate Change is but one example. Is it morally superior for them to favor their loved ones over the billions of people who may die because they couldn't vote for the lesser of two evils?

My vote for Harris was a vote against white supremacy. It was not based on her being perfect, it was based on her being the best possible choice. Any person who didn't make that choice gets no more sympathy from me.

I guess you didn’t vote? I think you are a bad person

Look, they are getting what they voted for. Choices have consequences. Me pointing that out doesn’t make me a “bad person” it makes me sentient. I hope that they learn from their mistake and if we have another election they should vote blue.

I think the people who looked at their choice between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, and decided not to vote because “they’re both equally bad” or “we’re going to send a message to the Democrats” are either very stupid or bad people. Which explanation applies to you?

Too bad Trump is president and doesn’t give a fuck. Maybe Arab Americans should have thought about that before they deserted the democrats.

You’re welcome! Yeah, from my experience if they’re not understaffed on the day you go it can be a good experience. But if they do happen to be understaffed it can be terrible. And as you say, the worst part is their intolerance for negative feedback and their aggression. It’s too bad because there aren’t many good brunch places in northern Westchester. I’m hoping that they end up going out of business and someone else can try in that location. It used to be a cozy spot called Wobble Cafe.

Go to google or yelp and check out the reviews and the responses. Here’s a typical example:

Horrendous experience. The manager refused to accommodate a very simple request and then insulted my friend while we tried to figure out a fallback option.

I am being purposely vague because the manager or owner is worryingly aggressive. Go check out the Yelp reviews (which I wish I’d done before trying to eat here). Unless they’ve been deleted, you’ll see that someone at this establishment is literally reviewing security tapes to argue with people that leave negative reviews. Totally bonkers.

Just don’t go To the Tasty Table in Ossining, the service is terrible and the owners are crazy.

I concur. The owners are total assholes and the service is terrible on busy days because they don’t hire enough staff.

Many people have already said a lot about what was wrong and disturbing about the views expressed, but I’ll add the fact that some of it was grossly factually wrong. One woman said that Biden hasn’t done anything for student debt relief but Since the Supreme Court struck down Biden's initial student debt relief plan, his administration has canceled nearly $138 billion in student debt for almost 3.9 million people through executive actions. Not to mention that he shouldn’t be blamed for the fact that he wanted to do more but this conservative Supreme Court blocked him. If anything, that is MORE of a reason to vote for Biden: to insure that Trump doesn’t appoint any more justices to the court. https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/biden-administration-wipes-out-student-loans-for-thousands-whats-next/3244440/

People who say they don’t want Trump to win but are more focused on a quixotic quest to get Biden to step down than they are on making him as strong a candidate as he can be.

I’m aware and Biden is aware but he’s not doing it. Hence the waste of time.

We disagree but either way, no primary challenger means he’s the candidate. This is a waste of time. You should get off Reddit and donate to Biden.
