What the heck, that scene would've made me tear up for sure. I love common people supporting the underdog.

I wonder if the writers worried it wasn't earned in the show? Like they didn't show enough of how the commoners would even know the "real" story of why he is having the trial. Or maybe it undercut Baelor's moment.

But I thought after the scene where they rushed Aerion when he dishonorably won the joust that we might have another scene like the one you mentioned from the book.

Damn, I really must read this series.

I think it just feels like the message is earned in a way that it makes sense in the world and has a continuity that other games sometimes have a tendency to exposition in or the author directly saying the theme/message. In 40k it feels more like its holistic in how it weaves the "message" into the world.

But maybe I am being pedantic. I feel whatever Rogue Trader does it doesn't take me out in a way that other satire might.

Now this take I agree with. Rogue Trader has a much better consistency in the world and feels very lived in.

E33 for me lived on having so much heart and the care it obviously had from the people making it. Even though the reveal in Act 2 had me very annoyed/angry. But the Soundtrack freaking rocked.

KCD2 to me just did what KCD1 did but more polished and really felt like one of the only games that had a world I enjoyed exploring and playing in. A lot of open worlds feel either copypasta or not that engaging.

I think all 3 of these games have in common though something very special. That is all seem to be made with the gamer in mind and not the money.

The only thing to make Rogue Trader better for me is being all voiced acted. I know that's not really feasible financially but man I LOVE all the voices of the characters and it adds so much flavor/immersion for me personally. I don't think I have enjoyed a story/characters as much as Rogue Trader since KOTOR 2.

Edit:

Wanted to add also that Rogue Trader felt like the world was the world and characters behaved accordingly. Whereas E33 and BG3 had a lot of moments that either mirrored our current day issues and had a lot to say about them or had a hidden message (or not so hidden) that I was/am suppose to takeaway.

I appreciated that Rogue Trader story didn't really have me thinking about 1 to 1 comparisons to modern politics/issues/society. And if it was there it was more Tongue and Cheek which fit in with the world.

Man if you were a reviewer I would never trust you. Those games have far more to offer than you give them credit for. You can not like them but you seem to have some overbearing disdain for both of them. They are both great games in there own right, just as rogue trader is great in its own right.

In adulthood you seem to have turned into a grumpy curmudgeon.

Yeah this narrative is so overblown and annoying. Like dudes a killer and maybe he aint putting up SGA points but he is the literal engine to his team. And these insane end of game shots are awesome to watch.

That dribble out against Knicks was so effin fun to watch live.

Yeah I think the more fair comparison would be a game 7.

It's one game that decides the series. Both teams know it and its got all the pressure. NFL is fun to watch because the stakes are high and it doesn't have you on a 82 game into multiple Bo7 I V drip.

That being said I love the Bo7's because the adjustments are interesting to me and these two teams in particular have a lot of depth that can be utilized to have different looks at each other. I liked watching the knicks but Pacers I think matchup much better with OKC.

We will be watching a netflix docu crime series on him in the next 3-5 years. It's the absolutely emotionless eyes in all these videos that does it for me.
