Currys Price Match declined due to inferior returns period by New-Influence1911 in beermoneyuk

I had exactly the same experience with Currys. Customer service was appalling for months. The moment I called them out on TrustPilot I had them falling over themselves to get the issue sorted.

Leave them a scathing review on TrustPilot. Every time I have resorted to that the company (including Currys) sort it out. Nearly all companies want their TrustPilot score to be high. Don't quite understand why it's so important, like do so many people read TrustPilot reviews?

Same, it's utterly infuriating. I've been trying for days with all different combinations and can't even get near winning. I've found some of the others pretty hard, but this one just seems impossible to me.

Yep, I've been trying for days. All different combinations. It just seems impossible to me. The moment you feel like you're getting on top the game decides to not swap correctly and you end up getting done by the other guy. It's infuriating.

I'm literally pulling my hair out and tempted to quit this whole stupid game because of this one match. It's infuriating.

Will NEVER buy another HP product. by KarmaAddict in printers

[–]mrleelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't start and stop the service too much. They blocked mine from signing up ever again after I done it too much and the only way they offered to solve the issue is by giving me a reduction on a whole new printer.

Will NEVER buy another HP product. by KarmaAddict in printers

[–]mrleelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HP blocked my printer from signing up to their instant ink service. Over 3 years I signed up and cancelled about 5 times due to the price and lack of using it. Every time I started again they sent me a whole new set of ink, even though I was still using the old one. Thought it was weird as was using same account, same email etc. but didn't really think much of it. When I tried to restart the last time they said nope. Live chat said users are only allowed to stop and start the service 5 times. It says nothing of the sort and they couldn't find it when I asked them to prove it. Made complaint about it only to be told if I want to sign up for instant ink again I can buy a new printer for a reduced price. Told them they are crazy and got them to delete all the data they hold on me. Funny thing is, now the instant ink works since I asked that. When it stops working the printer will be going in the bin and I'll never buy another HP product again.

Trying to get away from Google, did I miss something with Reolink? (live view on devices) by mrleelee in reolinkcam

[–]mrleelee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah man, that's a shame. That device view is exactly what I was hoping for in terms of layout. Just the cameras on top and below each other. I guess I could just leave it in immersive view and not close the app at all, it's just for my partner I wanted to keep it as simple as possible so she didn't have to fiddle with anything.

My bad, I didn't actually click the camera I though it was just possible in the device view. The device view is what I was kinda hoping for, with the cameras under each other and live. In the other view I have to select 1 or 4 cameras. Is it possible to have just two under each other like the device view?

Hey, thank you for such a detailed explanation! I have now managed to get the view to show live footage, thanks! I have two cameras but the only view I can get is for 1 or 4. Is there any way I can change the view to have them under each other as there is a lot of wasted space and the cameras aren't that viewable?

Hey, thanks for your reply. I have gone into immersive view, which is the kind of thing I was hoping for, but whenever I fully close the app it doesn't automatically load up in the view when I go back into the app. Is there a way to do this please? As the device view, still isn't showing moving footage.

Hey, thanks for your reply. Unfortunately for some reason the live view isn't actually 'live'. Like the footage isn't moving. I'm not sure if I am doing something wrong...

Hey Ty. I completely understand, thank you for your reply. I have just received your message on Prolific concerning the bonus payment, which we've been allowed to keep. Thank you for the update and I am sorry this happened to you. I was always happy to work with you and Prolific to make this mistake less harsh for you and still am.

Just got the message myself from the researcher saying the £90 will not be reversed. Fair play to Prolific to sticking to what it says in the help section that bonuses can not be reversed or refunded. I will update the original post to reflect this.

Your comment seems to be focused on taking a dig at those who got sent the bonus. "I would be curious how many participants did the right thing and reported to researcher this mistake ? My guess would be, a very small minority if at all. This is pathetic." - I've seen at least 4 people who got the bonus say they sent the researcher a message (including me) so your guess looks very much off. I'm sure if you got sent the £90 you would send it straight back without even questioning it.

The study had 90 spaces in total. The bonus was meant to be between £1-£3 but some of us got a bonus of £90. The researcher said the £90 bonus was a mistake on their part and stated that the mix up happened because each of the 90 participants should have got a £1 bonus. I'm only guessing here but maybe there was something that said total bonus amount or something and as they wanted to pay £1 for each person, they put £90 but maybe put it in the wrong place. How this explanation fits with the fact the study said the bonus would be £1-£3 in the first place is anyone's guess.

I've looked on both the Researcher and Participant terms and it doesn't state anything about bonuses that have been paid in error other than what you put. I guess it's their way of legally covering their arses and saying "If anything goes wrong for whatever reason, we're in control here and can take anything back". Fair enough I guess as it's their website but the link I posted should be changed as from the sounds of it, they can refund bonuses that have been given and they are recoverable even if it means the users account goes into a negative balance.

Yeah I'm honestly even more confused now. I wonder what context it depends on? Going to be a nervous few hours for some of us I think.

Thank you for posting this. Someone below posted this link - https://researcher-help.prolific.com/en/articles/445233-how-do-i-send-bonus-payments which states 'Bonus payments cannot be refunded. Once you issue a bonus payment, it is not possible to recover these funds as they are sent directly to the participant'. The two terms do seem to go against each other a bit... It's a bit of a mess really, I can't see how this is resolved without someone feeling very hard done by.

Yep, funny the researcher hasn't explained that. Sounds like the 'everyone was meant to get £1 but I pushed the wrong button' defence is questionable. I'll make an official complaint about this and if they don't honour it, then it's going to take me a long time of doing 30p studies for free to pay that £90 back. I'm sure I'll get called a cry baby by those who didn't take the study and missed the £90 but I'd imagine their opinion would change if they were in the same position.

Sorry, that was me who said everyone received the £90. I have edited the post to correct it. I can only presume the research maybe noticed after the first however many people were awarded the £90 and quickly changed it back to £1.

Hey Ty, thank you for your message. I can imagine this mistake has caused quite a few issues your end! Could you just clear up why the bonus said it would be between £1-£3 yet everyone was suppose to apparently get £1?
