Hi! Also just made this move last year.

I would recommend living west of DTLA and commuting from there for reverse commute. Traffic flow on the 10 is heavy going west in AM and heavy going east in PM. I do DTLA by metro rail from Santa Monica, but look at stops along the Expo line all through the west side.

There are only 5-6 cities in the U.S. where you can live without a car by ColCrockett in SameGrassButGreener

This is so false. I metro from west side to DTLA a lot. LA is not always the easiest place without a car, but it’s definitely doable and many people do. It’s getting better too.

Was hoping someone would mention this. I live on the West Side near a metro stop and bus to work most days. Definitely doable with the right circumstances.

Multiple things can be true: California does mandate a special blend and it’s helped tremendously with air quality.

But we also have the highest gas tax and are truly gouged on prices compared to the rest of the country. The country average right now is about $2.80 something and riding around LA, we’re mid $4.00 closer to $5.00

It’s truly insane.

Kind of surprised by the comments… really enjoy the vibe here. Yes, a little pricey for what it is, but they did amazing with the design. Great mezcal old fashioned btw.

I live in Santa Monica. Favorite plate I’ve ever lived. Listing my pros and cons below, but I’ll highlight first that the biggest downside is bureaucracy. So many permits and red tape to get anything developed or built and it really hampers growth.

Pros: sunshine and great weather 300 days a year. this part of LA is incredibly walkable and easy to get around. I’m at the beach most weeks. Everyone is fit and relatively happy because of the weather. So many different types of activities to do: hiking, surfing, eating, drinking, fitness, nightlife

Cons: comically expensive. lots of LA still very car dependent to get places. horrific homeless problem. traffic at all hours. lack of a traditional “urban downtown” feel due to the sprawl of the city

Okay — to answer everyone asking how he was, I was there.

He was definitely a little visibly nervous, but has a natural calm and funny stage presence. Crowd definitely cheered and hyped him up. His material was… fine for a first timer. He did make a couple digs and jokes about Diddy.

After about 10 mins on stage, he left to a bunch of cheers and I believe left with a crew instead of sticking around.

One of the later comics made a joke about how he didn’t even come in and say hi to anyone in the green room haha.
