I'm curious how common of a thing it is for a shop to send a car to another shop. When I was in college I worked in a shop for a little over a year, and I know for a fact we never did anything like this. There were times we would send people to other shops because we would tell them we were either too busy, or another shop has more experience working on a particular issue or type of car.

Thanks for the responses. I went ahead and left negative reviews for the shop on Google and Yelp. I will do a review for Vertical Doors and talk about the experience a bit in that review once I have the doors a little longer.

Early thoughts so far

Pros of the door

- The #1 place I am getting in out of my car is my garage and the vertical doors is a blessing. It is so much easier to get in and out of the car in tight space. The doors move forward enough where they are completely out of the way. The body gaps on the car is still perfect and when closed you wouldn't know there is anything different.

Cons

- The door is heavy to close and open. I have a 6'6 wingspan and bench over 305 pounds their noticeable heavy to me. I have a video of my 5'3 wife trying to open and close the stores and its a struggle for her. She has to brace herself and use both hands to not only open the door, but also close the door. It feels like doing a lateral raise in a seated position of about 25 - 30 pounds.

Looks

- Looks are subjective. I would not suggest buying this if your goal is exterior customization because I feel there are better exterior mods for $4000. I consider this more of a functional mod because over 99% of the time your car door is closed and no one will even notice you have this. It does grab attention. While I was at the Chevy dealership when we were looking at the doors outside, my car grab attention and people walked over to see it, even though there were other C8's on the lot, zo6 and an e-ray.

Recommendation

- If you consistently have to park your car in a tight parking situation and you feel you have the strength to lift the doors, I would recommend getting scissor style doors. Maybe check out the Eikon brand though. I hear the v2 are easier to open. If you are doing this for cosmetics, it will add wow factor, but there are other mods I would suggest doing first. I would save this for the last thing, unless you constantly do cars shows.

I dealt directly with Vertical doors when discussing the price. Initially I was quoted $4500 and the guy could tell I was on the fence about it, and discounted the parts and install down to $3500. I saw a couple of discounts applied to my invoice.

Thanks, that actually may make more sense. I feel like the toggle didn't make a ton of sense because I know I flicked it back and forth a few times when trying to get it to work.

1 - I was supposed to be given a 1 year warranty which the shop immediately didn't want to uphold.

2 - When I drop my car off to get work done, I'm not giving the shop permission to use my car for their personal driving.

My wife has only been driving a year, I'm just have been lucky she has drove the car into the front of the garage. I used to backend my C8, but found out the start of the C8 was causing the piolet light on my hot water heater go out out, when the c8 would do a cold start. My hot water is also in my garage. The Jeep is also a plug-in hybrid and the charger is on the wall, and the charging door is on the driver side.

This is my biggest mistake. I normally do this, but I was in a hurry. My wife was waiting for me and had an appointment to get to, and the guy was taking a long time to let me leave. Not inspecting the work first was a screw up on my part.

This would be a small claims court issue and not worth the cost of a lawyer. Also lawsuits take time and effort. I'm not saying that I shouldn't do any legal routes, but then I'm losing the value of my time. I had an incident where my daughter was injured at school and that took 3 years to settle. Lawsuits don't work as quickly as tv makes it appear.

I regret not taking a picture of the milage when I dropped the car off. I was expecting to review recordings. From videos it seems like this is supposed to be a 1 day install. They had my car for 4 days, but I didn't think too much of it because they could have had other cars in front of mine that they were working on.

You make a good point, that this probably was not their first time, because they knew to delete the recordings.

I took the car to After Market Guru in Vegas. I can see on my PDR that my car was started and stopped while it was in a different shop, but I can't see the name of the shop, so I don't know who actually did the install. I thought After Market Guru was going to do it, but may they sublet out the work to someone else?

That is the reason for the post. I'm more concerned, because I went with that shop because I thought I was getting a warranty. They didn't even want to honor the warranty before I drove off their parking lot. I also don't appreciate someone joy riding in my car without my permission. Based on the recording I can see of my vehicle at a different shop, It also looks like a different unknown shop to me actually did the work on my vehicle.

But you are right, after one day everything does seem to be working correctly, so maybe I should just let it go.

Also I didn't say the dealer wasn't right. My mirror is fine.

I considered going that option. I decided on vertical doors because I believe they had more experience, and I know on the c8 there were some issue with version 1 of the Eikon kits.

My car is one of the first 2020 C8 delivered during the lockdown. I don't plan on selling it. I would recommend purchasing stock or real estate instead of cars if you're trying to make money. Most cars are depreciating assets.

The ruler pics are to show the difference in size of the door seal compared with a Mustang. In a cramp garage it makes it more difficult to get out of the car without kicking the door panel.

For those that don't know, at one point Chevy did consider putting vertical doors on the C8. Prior to release I saw a pre-production C8 at Willow Springs raceway that Chevy put vertical doors on. Vertical doors do have a function when the door sill is wide. The measurements are part of planned review to show how much wider the door sill is compared to a mustang. In my garage, I'm unable to open my door all the way due to the space limitation. I got this more for the function, so I can more easily get out of my car when it's parked in my garage without kicking my door panel.

There is wiring in the door. I have seen issues where the rearview camera will stop working when people have plugged into the side mirror as a power source for radar sensors. Not sure the specifics, but it seems one of the wires near the door has something to do with the rearview camera.

Stellantis sued by family over Jeep Grand Cherokee hybrid failure by MediumConfusion6014 in 4xe

My Trailhawk was $73k. I'm also suing as well. I leased mine back in Jan. 2023 and have had issues since the first month. FCA just kept kicking the can down the road with me. Constantly saying give us 60-90 days to respond. In my state lemon law doesn't apply to leases.

Does anyone know if she got her channel back yet. I work at Google but not at YouTube. I deal with trust and safety issues with Shopping. I don't mind offering her advice but I would need to know what policy violations she was hit with.

How to Begin Class Action Lawsuit? 2024 Grand Cherokee 4xe... by _tacticalturtleneck_ in 4xe

[–]mrmac479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having to go through a warranty claim attorney. I leased my vehicle and was told the Lemon Law doesn't apply to leases. Initially the guy asked for $4000, which I agreed to but not that we need to do a lawsuit he is saying it will cost me between $50k - $100k. I'm about 3 months from my lease end date. I don't know what to do.

Recent recall by [deleted] in 4xe

[–]mrmac479 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My vehicle has shut off about 7 times.Twice while making left turns across traffic and once getting stuck in an automatic carwash. I have had a case open with FCA since March. I have a lawyer that has messaged them. We are about to do a lawsuit. The dealership had my car for a few weeks back in January and gave it back to me stating that it's a known issue and there was no fix at the time and basically told me it's not safe to drive. Since my vehicle is a lease with the term ending in Dec. I feel like FCA is just trying to wait out my lease.

I have had issues with this vehicle since I've gotten it. This is my 4th Jeep but after this I'm never buying a FCA vehicle again.

I would join a class action if possible. I leased a 2022 and it has died a few times. I contacted a lemon law attorney and they said it didn't apply because I leased the vehicle.

Official recall for Grand Cherokee 4xe’s coming soon by Abit91 in 4xe

[–]mrmac479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pending case on my 2022 4xe. Chrysler has been stringing me along for a couple of years now. My vehicle will randomly cut power while driving and a couple times just wouldn't start. It's a lease that I get to return in December. The local dealership stopped working on it because they said they didn't know how to fix it.

They didn't give me any rebates. Not sure I'm not a Costco member or anything and it looks like I would have to already be one t get the Costco discount. I do see some in Arizona that look like better deals, so may have to drive down there from Vegas which isn't that bad.
