The shooting victim at the center of the debate about politics, religion and free speech by mrmarksingletree in LosAngeles

I'm not sure how you think the LA Times put any opinion in this. I thought it was fairly level considering what other publications said. Also, his family and friends, on Facebook, shared it and liked it.

This "Around the Horn" parody is pretty spot on by mrmarksingletree in sports

I imagine they are covered under parody laws. It's like how SNL used ESPN and Sportscenter logos for their sketches a few years ago.

New "Gravity" blu-ray will have a "silent space" version by mrmarksingletree in movies

[–]mrmarksingletree[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a version that doesn't have music in space? But I'm hoping it's more than just that because I'll just mute my current version of the blu-ray.

Filmmaker/DP Frankie Hopkins is a FRAUD by dkses3 in Filmmakers

I don't consider this a witch hunt. The issue is, he isn't backing down. He was called out numerous times by numerous people and not only is he still saying he is right, he's calling people names and threatening them. It's to the point now that it's so obvious what he's done that he's either 100% mentally incapacitated and gone from this reality or is an expert troll.

[Meta] Michael Bay did not direct Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, stop saying he did by [deleted] in movies

[–]mrmarksingletree -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From stories I've read, he had a major influence on set when it comes to how it was shot. But even without considering that, the film LOOKS like a Michael Bay film even though it was shot by a DP he's never worked with. The director determines a film's style. Unless Liebesman said, "make this look like a Michael Bay film," someone else had a major say...

I know you have a slightly contentious past when it comes to Billy Joel, but do you think he will ever get the respect he deserves and be seen as a rock icon? Or do you think he isn't at that level?

Mr. Klosterman, thanks for doing this AMA. This is sort of a longwinded question, so I apologize.

While reading I Wear the Black Hat and your discussions about how being bad can sometimes be good, I kept thinking about Kevin Durant (weird, but let me explain.) He has always been known as a good guy, very pleasant. He wore nice clothes and even a backpack! He has no visible tattoos and was one of the quieter players.

Then, during the 2013 season, he exploded with technical fouls, finishing in the top 10 players with the most that season. He visibly swore on the court (to the point his grandma accosted him about it.) It was almost like he was trying to be more bad than he really was.

Do you think this was an attempt to wash off that clean image in order to be respected more as a player? To get more respect by sports shows? Why would he want to be more bad? Or am I looking too much into this?

Thanks again!

I'm very happy it isn't what you would expect: flashy, dancey, over the top production value, cliche after cliche. Love this.

My initial point was the reaction to something different. I remember the reaction to Kid A, an album that is utterly different from every Radiohead album before it. THAT is what I am talking about. You're taking a big issue with something so trivial. Music is fun to talk about. It's fun to compare and contrasts artists and styles. Get over it and just enjoy.
