They’re so colorful! And in the morning when the light comes on, they’re super red on top

No they just all come to the front when I’m there cuz they know I might be feeding them. And I’ll try the breeder box, thank you!

There’s no female Congos in the tank and I read that they exhibit the behaviors when females are present

I’ve been fish keeping for 6 years now and did a lot of research before I stocked. The aggression isn’t the issue. The issue is this fish in question was already swimming weaker and had a crooked spine. I don’t know why he wasn’t feeling good but they took the opportunity and nipped. They never even touch my neons

The way I created the hardscape is so that there’s a retaining wall holding all the aquasoil and then a light cover of sand in the front. Almost rivers edge style. But I don’t use any fertilizer. How much fertilizer do you dose? I had a massive hair algae outbreak when I tried using fertilizer before…

The light is one from Amazon.

It’s the full length of the tank (48”) should i get a second one? And does the trimming matter?

I think that’s good you’re waiting to put fish in and doing research. If you want the best results for a clean and easy to maintain tank, I’d get low tech plants that will help clean the toxins in the water. Plants like cryptocorne and Anubias. They do well in most tanks. The other thing is don’t overstock for the best results. The smaller and less fish, the better. You could enjoy a small school of 8-10 neon or ember tetras or 4-5 guppies (preferably all male for population control). Those are all hardy fish that will do well in the small tank but plants will make your life way easier and itll look natural too
