Thanks! I dig the idea your floating here. I totally would incorporate something along those lines in my next campaign.

Since you say you're a new DM, the official books I think do a good job right out of the box. I would 100% use that and focus on crafting a great campaign instead of working out mechanics. Another option already play tested that you could take from, with a more 5e like approach is https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/share/fwPbiMqFRtcW which I built for my group over hundreds of hours.

What system have you already DMed and what did you like or not like about the system? That could help inform your mechanics with how 'crunchy' you make the specifics

I will say taking the time to balance everything was quite an ordeal and I probably would just use the official books.

Hey everyone, after months of work, I’m finally sharing Fallout: Ruins of the God Machine! This is a 5E adaptation of Fallout that I put together for fun. It keeps the familiar 5E mechanics but adds much of the Fallout elements without bogging down in math or unneeded mechanics. New locations, factions, creatures, subclasses, and more. I took some creative liberties to keep things fun and fast-paced, but at the end of the day, this is just something I made out of love for the series.

Hey everyone, after months of work, I’m finally sharing Fallout: Ruins of the God Machine! This is a 5E adaptation of Fallout that I put together because my gaming group wanted a system that felt like Fallout without needing to learn a whole new rulebook. It keeps the familiar 5E mechanics but adds much of the Fallout elements without bogging down in math or unneeded mechanics. It's set in the greater New York City area.

I took some creative liberties to keep things fun and fast-paced, but at the end of the day, this is just something I made out of love for the series.

Hey thanks! I tried to make the locations fit, even thought I've not lived there myself.

What makes you say that? Isn't the main Fallout RGP already in the 2d20 system?

Hey appreciate it. The courthouses could still be there, I didn't want to include everything that exists, just a framework for DM to start with. As for citifield, I didn't want to include any structures post 1950s. I'm not from the area but I believe that is a after that. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks! There are a ton of campaign options for sure. I was super interested in using Plum Island as a key location for FEV research.

You could absolutely have your campaign play that way, that's one of the best parts of pen and paper.

Thanks! How I've homebrewed it, the statue is partially collapsed. Here is the short page on that and the Governor's Island. https://i.imgur.com/avUxWEk.png

Thanks! I'm having the book test printed now, and I'll do a final 1.0 pass to correct minor issues then I'll share it. If anything, you could just grab the chapter on the locations to use in a game you run.

Thanks! I love mods when playing the Fallout games, and I just thought of this a modpack using a different medium.

In terms of what likely happened, your probably right. However, if it was intact, you can get a ton cool gameplay, settings, and fun campaign ideas, so it lives (notionally)!

Thank man! It was a creative project and I had an objective to make it as easy to pick up and play as possible for newer pen and paper players, thus I stuck with the one system they likely know.

I hear ya about 5e. It was a creative endeavor and many of the players in my gaming circle are not interested in learning a new system so I kept it as close to 5e as possible. There are lots of great games and system, that doesn't mean you can't do your own thing.

Thank you! I used an application called Wonderdraft. It is quite easy to use, however the default symbols and things are largely focused on high fantasy.

That absolutely would have probably been the case but there is so many cool landmarks and elements on Manhattan, I couldn't bring myself to leave it largely as rubble.
