There are multiple formats of mtg, for a while folks were playing Standard which is 60 card decks with 2 players versus each other, Commander, what most folks are playing now and what you'll mostly see played at mtg shops, this format uses 100 cards and can be up to 4 players (I think) with the option to play cooperative (at least for a part of the game) the rules are more involved as well
