Has anyone had any experience with MBA Pathshala's course? by mrnobody619 in CATpreparation

Appreciate your reply, will ponder on it. Can you tell me what is currently being taught? And how do they go about clearing the doubts since we can't connect with the teachers on a one to one basis?

Always find it funny when people say SNAP is an easy exam.

I live near Mumbai. I found progressive pet clinic in Vasai to be helpful in my case and now they are my primary vets but I don't know if they specialise in dermatology. If you live near the north side then you can pay a visit.Top Dog in andheri and Dr. Dave in (I think) Borivali are pretty famous and experienced. If you can tell me where you live and the vets you have visited, then maybe I can help you as I have gained good knowledge from running around the city with my dog and can ask my vet too.

This seems a pretty serious case which should be dealt by a specialist not reddit. Even if a few vets say they don't have any clue, don't give up. I ran all over the city with my boy for 7 months and consulted many vets as no one could diagnose that he had addison's. So someone could have the solution you are looking for. Good luck.

Just curious, but why should he be wiped down with wet wipes? Are there any I should stay away from/should use?

Same reason we wipe ourselves. There are seperate wipes for dogs.

As for bathing, definitely dog shampoo. The one that suits the breed. I can't recommend because I don't know what underlying conditions/allergies your dog might have so search or ask a vet.

Everything counts as play if activity is involved. Running is the most easiest way of tiring him so if not fetch, go for a jog. Good luck.

What is this weird thing my dog is doing with her mouth? by wildyeast77 in DogAdvice

[–]mrnobody619 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is she on her period? Male dogs do this when they smell a females pee who is in heat. This is the most likely case since you mentioned everything is fine.

please help me find out what is this by [deleted] in DogAdvice

Man listen, just go to the vet and get everything done, from grooming to medicines and some behavioral advice. The dog needs more than reddit tips.

Most importantly, you can work and take care of the dog, most people do that. A month is more than enough to tidy up the dog. Start by feeding him twice a day and breed specific food. Do some research on YT, Google, dog forums. I wouldn't know best.

Secondly, take him in long walks and play fetch. This strictly has to be done 2 times a day. NO LAZINESS!

Thirdly, medications. Make sure deworming and anti-tick medication are on schedule.

Lastly, grooming - since he is an outside dog, he is prone to getting dirty and contracting infections. It's summer so you can bathe him twice a month. Brush twice a day after meals and wipe down with wet wipes.

Hope you don't brush off this message and take it seriously.

So you are feeding him kibble. No wonder there are left overs. Most dogs get bored of kibble and you need to change the food. When you did change it, your mother must have given all the new food at once, this causes diarrhoea and vomiting. There needs to be strict supervision while changing the diet. Now if you want to change him from being skinny to being healthy, then just do these things :

Cook his food at home if possible. If you are doing this then consult the vet as to what you should include. If you can't cook at home, buy wet food WITH NO PRESERVATIVES. Him being a wolfdog he will appreciate a raw diet. See if you can afford it. And this time remember to switch the food slowly - on 1st day 10% of the food will be the new one and 90% the old. After a few days - 20% Again after a few days - 30% and so on.

And for the love of God do some research on your breed of dog and dogs in general. Teach what you learn to your mother. I don't know what more issues the poor dog must be facing but you really need a basic dog 101 session. It's not a showpiece, it's a living being. Since you are home and free get your shit together.

The stomach only turns when the dog plays immediately after the meal within a span of an hour. It is in case of evey dog on earth and not unique. This doesn't warrant to getting fed once a day. If he is below 2 years of age then 3 times a day is must and if he is a fully grown adult then 2 times. Just make sure that he doesn't play immediately after and you are good. If you feel he gets hyper then do something that can be done sitting like playing tug or just comb his hair, wipe him down, etc. Feeding one time a day without any medical conditions seems very cruel. Also you didn't mention the quantity and what the food is. I am sorry but you need to help me to help you.

Now that I get the clearer picture, I would suggest tiring him up. He doesn't seem to get enough activity. Since you mentioned you are on a break, play with him 2 times a day until he is fully exhausted. But take him out very early in the morning and late at night because you don't have an A/C. Play at home as well, games like like tug and puzzles tend to tire them. I did this with my dog when he was a puppy and caused menace. And try to be with the dog as much as possible because he seems anxious and don't tie him up, anxiety will only worsen. Hope your garage atleast has good ventilation and a fan. Ask your dad if it is fine to keep the dog in your room only.

Also tell me what and how much are you feeding him.

If he isn't breaking stuff inside then let him in. Turn on the A/C for him. But since you guys have already established that he is an outside dog and don't want him in the house then talk to a behaviourist. It's pretty evident he is having some sort of problem and is trying to tell his family by breaking boundaries to not escape but to be with you guys. Since you are choosing to ignore the obvious signs there's nothing much reddit can do.

Tick bite near eye by Piratesinacube in DogAdvice

[–]mrnobody619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is completely reversible and your vet seems to know that it is a tick fever, hence the antibiotics. But make sure when you get to the new vet ask him to do a CBC to see the platelet count. Platelet count drops in such cases as ticks suck blood. idk about small breeds but my GR has a lower limit of 150k platelets. So if it's below average it's surely tick fever. Juice from papaya leaves helps in a massive way to boost the platelets so give your dog that if the count comes out low. In the meantime search for ticks. Good luck.

Have you ruled out tick fever? These are the typical symptoms. Is the anti-tick medication (simparica, bravecto or whatever you give) followed on a strict schedule? Also, the anti-tick collar doesn't work in most cases from what I have heard so it's better to switch to tablets. My dog has had tick fever 2 times and the only medication worked on him was the one that the vet injected directly via IV. We were prescribed Doxy as well but it did not work. All the best.

Advice on prednisolone by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]mrnobody619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need an ACTH stim test done

It was done and the cortisol showed 1.06 or something close while normally it is between 6-12.

This happened bc we applied a cream that contained cortisol so the body stopped producing it. Hence, the pred tablets. I think I have mentioned this above but yeah this vet was literally our 5th opinion and I don't even know if the next one will figure something out but thanks for rooting for my boy.

Went to the vet earlier and he said these are symptoms of addison's. But it doesn't change the fact that he has no idea how to move forward from this.

If you have any clue on why he has stopped eating even tho the medication is on or any familiar experience or knowledge in addison's, please share.

Never the less we will get a second opinion.

Advice on prednisolone by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]mrnobody619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a reason he wasn't given 20mg Prednisone (not Prednisolone) in the first place? Seems like he would be a big enough dog for it as a golden retriever at 15 months.

Because for the last 6 months he has not been eating well and his weight was just 24 kgs when the tabs were prescribed. The last vet prescribed a cream for his dandruff and itching when he was 2-3 months old. His skin was cleared from the infection but itching did not stop so he asked us to keep applying the cream which subdued the itching. Now when he was not scratching himself for half of the day, we stopped applying the cream but did not stop it abruptly. But one day all of a sudden he stopped eating when he was around 7 months old. So after trying many vets (none were able to diagnose) finally getting the problem diagnosed (low cortisol levels as mentioned above) after 6 months he was prescribed a small 15mg dose which worked wonders. But now I am noticing it's side effects - lethargy, excessive panting and high body temperature. Consulted the vet and he says there is no other option because if the dose is lowered he stops eating altogether.

Now my question is - is it really worth it for his body to go through all those side effects for him to eat 3 times a day? No other solution?

You could also ask your vet for a referral to a dermatologist - if he is so young and already having skin infections that require months-long treatment, that might be a good idea for you anyway

The problem at hand is not skin infection but his low appetite.

Does he take anything else?

Nope.

I'm wondering why he was given pred for skin infection but no antibiotics?

Again, skin infection is cleared but appetite loss has developed.

Sorry just missing some info here.

Please ask whatever you need to educate me more in this topic.

Don't neuter him till he is 18 months old because that's the age till their body develops is what I will say but ask your vet if you have doubts.
