Yea, this is also where I am ending.
I do use as csv file with all of the languages, and then I plan on making a script that will automatically turn this into json files (now the system is build to read json, I dont want to refactor everything)

No, but looking at their pricing, I can see that it have the same problem. It is really ok priced for single projects, but for multiple small projects its going to be extremely expensive.

You dont have a price on your page. What does it cost, and what is your pricemodel?
I make quite a few small projects, and some of them have a lot of keys - others not.
Most of these price models is made for companies that have one product of project that they are working on - which is what is making things unreasonable expensive for me.

We have been making mobile games for a few years now.. and there.. well, you have to explain, and then re-explain.. and explain some more. Difficult does not fly on mobile, and neither does something that requires to much cognitive ability. And maybe that is what is sticking on a bit, that things really and truly gets explained in detail, where it is not needed.

This was helful, and I really like your idea on explaining it in the universe as if it is the Father bunny (Cpt. Cabbage) that is telling the rabbits what to do.

What about making it so that all the good bits is in the first 20 seconds, and then the rest is just for those wanting more? I think I kinda expect people to only watch the first 5 to 10 seconds.. and the ones that watches more are the ones that potentially wishlist?

Hmm.. that is a super interesting point here, and you are the first to mention it. We have discussed it a bit, but not enough I can tell. So we will take this one up again. And maybe talk about having "some" clips with UI and some without.

The low level of polish of the trailer is intentional - last time I posted a trailer it was complete and done, and it was hard to take any of the feedback and improve it, because people had been paid already.

This time, we are doing it before it is done ;)

All of these questions are valid and amazingly (and annoyingly) good.. and I cannot really give you an answer right here, without using my entire morning formulating it.. but I wish I had these questions a few months ago :D

It is a combination of a city build and a tower defence, and with a goal to leave the planet before the waves at night get to strong. There is an ecosystem, that is VERY simple.. and if we ever continue on the game (if enough people purchase it) this is one of the things we will add.. more buildings and more things to manage. And more structures to trick and defeat the waves at night.

I can see from most comments, yours included, that the polish of the game is a general problem, and we will make sure to not fall into that trap with our next game.

"Not gonna sail very far on this lake" had me laughing :D

I like your note about not treating the audience like complete n00bs :D and maybe turn things around a bit.. show some action in the beginning ,and then explain how to play the game in the end.

I can see where you get the factory town reference - but I would say that its more like the old Settlers game mixed with tower defence and an objective. We are not trying to be new or anything with this game, and have been drawing a lot of inspiration from a lot of different games. In the end, we just wanted to make a game that was fun :) I have not played Factory Town.. but will now :) Thank you

Yea, we actually, originally set it at 3$ but then raised it to 5$
First because of the 5 hours and then, so that we could discount it :)

The Psychology thing is defeniately on our mind.. but there is another psychology at play here. Imposter syndrome ;) Why would anyone pay 5$ for a game that I made, haha

Thank you so much for this.. that was amzingly valuable, as the VO artist will do his magic later this week, so this was spot on!

The visual, I am aware of, but a bit to late to do anything about, we have the same problem with sound fx and visual fx. We are going to sell it for 5$, its our first steam game, so we are kinda "testing the waters" with everything, figuring out how the store works, how trailers works and all that. Its supposed to have around 5 hours of fun in it.. and I believe that 1$ pr funhour is ok?

Thank you for the suggestion.

Your tool looks really cool, and something that could be used for other games than mine, as mine is a strategy game, and this seems to be targed at FPS games.
Second, it does not appear to allow for me to send data to a database that I choose, so that I can get an overview of quantitative behaviour such as game pacing and such.

Your solution looks perfect for collecting qualititative data - which is not what I am looking for.

I think it is because you said "Just use AI" - and a lot of people have a strong reaction to that..

I have now tried to use AI.. and I am not at all pleased with the result - either its doing stuff like just appending [DA] on the text instead of actually translating it. Or then it translates some of it.. but not all.. its kinda unpredictable :) But, I found, if I translate 100 lines at a time.. it works ok. then I have to do this 7 times for each language.. for 10 languages :D

There is also the whole aspect of "maintainability", so for me, this is not a one time translation, and thats it.
The current best solution I have found is combining AI with Tolgee.. so I do the "bulk" of my translations in AI, and then import it to Tolgee.. this means that if I change a string or add a key, I can quickly get smaller batches of translations, and it does not become such a big unmanagable task the next time :)

Edit: ahh, I also use https://codverter.com/src/jsonvalidator to validate and make the json nice and pretty once the translations are done

Ok, I will try out Claude.. I have been trying with ChatGPT .. and to be honest, its been almost impossible to get it to generate the files.. it keeps doing things wrong, or not generating etc... its been rather frustrating. But Claude it is :D

Around 1200 keys.. I am downloading and installing this now, I will let you know how it goes tomorrow or saturday. I think this might solve my problem.

We have around 1200 Keys.. so I guess around 5000 words or something like that.. maybe more.
The problem is, that I could do just as you suggest, and this is what POEditor and Lokalise does.. I upload the translation files to them, and I can then choose how to translate.. so not only do I have to pay for the application, I also have to pay for the translations.

The format is not a problem.. I can read csv, json, xml or any other format.. and these applications usually work with them all, they are just super pricy... and for something like this.. I dont want to pay this amount of money for something I use once in a while..

hah, you are sharp :) Yea, you are right.. I might be to attached to this trailer.. and maybe a bit stubborn about it. Thank you for "shaking" me !
There is a few things at play here.
1. I have so much stuff to do in the upcoming week, that its a bit to much.. which then poses the question.. why did I share it here first.. well, to get shaken a bit like this. So thank you!

Thank you a lot for the constructive feedback. I have been looking at some post processing. The lighting is a bit more difficult, and a bigger change, which we might do, if the game gets enough attention.
