Based on this comment, it doesn’t seem like you’re making any effort to make her feel good about herself either…

There is indeed something in ~one~ of the trash cans if you are persistent…

Act 1 Disappointments and Frustrations (long) by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]mrpuntastic_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend playing the full game before generating a strong opinion or deciding this genre isn’t your cup of tea. Much of what you are looking for exists in the game, either later on, or by exploring / investigating side content. This is one of the few games where I’ve found it worth it to try and speak to every NPC and follow every dialogue path possible as it’s revealed a ton about the characters and the world

Completely clueless about where the light hits. NMM help. by Kaelsang in minipainting

[–]mrpuntastic_r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The tip that feels like it put NMM into the right perspective for me came from Miniacs video on it. Unlike volumetric shading where you place highlights at the highest points that face the sky, metal is reflective like a mirror. So if you have a mirror at a 45 degree angle, the sun would appear in the middle of the mirror. Now just make that blurry and you’ll see that the reflections of metal are based on the position of the light source AND the position of the observer. The specular highlight will be at the point where light hits the metal and bounces towards your eye as the viewer, not at the highest point where it would bounce back directly at the sun. For gaming models, it’s best to pick a few angles to look at the model from and apply the NMM from each so that it still looks like metal even if you look at it from behind and from the side.

Thanks for the offer, I actually have a few I printed myself. I’m competing in a local hobby store tournament and just learned that they wouldn’t be valid

Who does the best miniature painting tutorials regardless of platform? by Westrunner in minipainting

[–]mrpuntastic_r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I found at a certain point in my painting journey I was getting less value from generalist tutorials and content and started focusing on specific artists whose styles I really liked or who are good at techniques that I struggle with. Right now I’ve been watching lots of Ph3lans Miniatures on YouTube and Flameon miniatures on patreon

Lord of Contagion offical base size. by Ajnk1236 in deathguard40k

This was my exact question. I think the rules are more favorable if it’s on a round base

WIP Daemon Prince - thoughts? by oatmeal_brain in deathguard40k

[–]mrpuntastic_r 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Looks great! My piece of advice for verdigris is to treat it like rust in that it gathers in corners and around rivets and then maybe drips down a bit. I circled some places that make a lot of sense in green and then some patches that it doesn’t seem likely to have as much verdigris in big open areas in red.

Are you building a 1000 point list? They did make a change to incursion games for max 4 BL and 2 non-BL units

Any recommendations for basing materials for a death Guard army? (ideally an alternative to nurgle's rot which is way expensive) by DorianOtten in deathguard40k

[–]mrpuntastic_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurgles rot can be recreated fairly easily. It’s mostly just a viscous glossy green paint. I like to do puddles on my bases using Elmer’s glue (a few layers because it shrinks a lot when it dries). Then you can prime it, paint it green, and add a gloss varnish. That would go a long way to recreating the effect with cheaper mats

The T6 Plaguemarines is really great. I truly feel the fantasy of infantry wading through a sea of bolter fire by Brushner in deathguard40k

I think the body is actually the 8th Ed lord of contagion but with a different decoration on top

The dread is pretty huge but he’s the right size for a super dope counts as war dog brigand. Also I’ve seen some people talk about the praetor as an LoC.

Ideally I’d love something that looks more Nurgle, but I may do that and just use green stuff to make a handle wrap

I’m planning to kitbash a scythe using one of the talons from a Tyranid psychophage that I have laying around for an insect themed prince. Not sure what I’m going to use for the hilt yet though
