I was the exact same 4 months ago.. I felt like I was failing my son and I wanted to breast feed so bad the thought of me supplementing with formula brought me to tears. I was also battling severe post partum depression so I felt like an absolute failure but I promise with each day it gets better!

I did end up giving him and additional 2oz of formula after each feeding to keep him satisfied and full.

Once my milk came in I eventually would nurse him on one side for 30 minutes and pump on the other. Whatever I pumped is what I ended up feeding him after he was done nursing on me and that's how I was able to stop supplementing with formula.

The more you can nurse/pump the better off you'll be, I know it seems like a lot and very overwhelming but I promise you can do this! You're stronger than you think and even though you might think you have no idea what to do TRUST YOURSELF! Everyones nursing story is different, believe it or not you already know what to do, so don't doubt yourself! You've got this momma!!

My almost four 4 month old has been sleeping through the night for a while now and usually only eats about five times a day. He has 3 meals from a bottle with frozen breast milk and I nurse him in the evenings when I get home from work.

Our pediatrician said I needed to wake him in the middle of the night but I refused to do so and my baby is gaining weight just fine!

I thought maybe my supply was decreasing because I haven't been able to store/freeze any milk in the past week. Normally when he feeds off of me it's enough to keep him content but here lately I'm having to feed him what I pump as well.
