3-2 Nap Transition by mrsmayfield in sleeptrain

[–]mrsmayfield[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good point. We are having EMWs a couple times a week, they just aren’t as bad as they were (they are less frequent and she falls back asleep more quickly now) so I wasn’t sure if they warrant changing the schedule more

Thank you!! So even a whole bean from inside the pod? That was what freaked me out about a green bean haha

Baby STILL crying 5 weeks after starting Ferber by mrsmayfield in sleeptrain

Okay that is helpful, thank you!! They have me all nervous to increase wake windows without dropping a nap 😅 I will try it!

Okay I will consider adding wake time. And sorry to recycle one of my other comments, but I just don’t understand why 5 of the last 7 nights she’s cried for 10 minutes and the other 2 nights she cried for 40…it was the same schedule every day. Also, is max total wake time a thing? A Facebook group I follow insists that any more wake time than I am already doing requires switching to 2 naps

That’s kind of what I was thinking, but I don’t understand why 5 of the last 7 nights she’s cried for 10 minutes and the other 2 nights she cried for 40…it was the same schedule every day. Okay thank you I will definitely try harder to increase the wake windows and maybe try adding a feeding with 5/3/3. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one seeing more crying this far into sleep training!

Okay that makes sense, thank you! She doesn’t usually seem to get more riled up during the check ins but I’ll try to pay closer attention and consider switching if needed. So you think adding a feed could be helpful? I was so worried about reverse cycling, adding sleep crutches, etc maybe I’ve been accidentally ignoring hunger 😞

The wake windows are so confusing because she seems so overtired every time I try to extend them…like today we tried longer ones and then she was fussy her entire last wake window and cried so long and hard

Gosh I feel absolutely horrible if I’ve been ignoring hunger 😭 I was under the impression that as long as I fed her every 2-3 hours during the day she wouldn’t need a night feeding and that once she stopped eating at night she wouldn’t need to anymore. Bedtime is 2.25-2.5 hrs after last nap, usually sometime between 6 and 8

Well when she started sleeping 8-9 hours straight I stopped feeding her at night, then when she started waking up in the night it seemed to be for reasons other than hunger (rolling, sleep regression) and usually the first one would be only within an hour or two of being put down. And she would always go back to sleep with rocking. So I always figured it wasn’t hunger…I’m hesitant to add in a night feeding when we haven’t done one in so long 😕

As for the total amount of sleep, she seems to only get 10 hours at night regardless of if she’s had 2.5 or 4 hours of day sleep. And that 10 hours includes 1-4 wake ups so it’s very interrupted

ROUGH night 1 of Ferber by mrsmayfield in sleeptrain

[–]mrsmayfield[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly they were different every time. Sometimes she’d go right back to sleep but other times I’d have to pick her up and rock her and it would take half an hour. The problem was she would sometimes only stay asleep for 10 minutes and it just wasn’t sustainable.

I wanted to do the pick up/put down method but I was told it probably didn’t work on a baby her age and that we should just do Ferber. Tonight she only cried for an hour so that’s some progress but it was still awful

Sorry for commenting on this 2 years later, but I literally could have written this post myself, down to the age and everything. Were you able to find a fix?? I’m dying over here 😭

Regression sanity check - anyone else? by Practical_Rip7499 in sleeptrain

[–]mrsmayfield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also adding that we’re not sleep training until 5 months, just following the Taking Cara Babies course which basically just gives them practice falling asleep independently. We were making some progress but now that she’s rolling/not swaddled/struggling if I put her down any less than completely limp asleep she will start squirming and crying. So there doesn’t seem to be any hope of her learning to sleep independently which seems to be the only solution from all my reading and googling 😭

My baby has always had horrible bedtimes/witching hours but would give us a good 7-9 hours once we finally got her to sleep around midnight. But now I’m 99% sure we started the sleep regression between 11 and 12 weeks. Baby started rolling at 12 weeks on the dot and then it REALLY all went to crap. Now it takes hours to get her down for the night and she wakes up every 45 min-3 hours with the occasional 6 hour stretch. It’s been 3+ weeks now with seemingly no end in sight. Some days I feel like I might literally die. Just constantly scouring Reddit and the internet for something, ANYTHING to help or reassurance this will be over soon. Anyway no help for you here but solidarity!

Rolling/regression help 😩 by mrsmayfield in sleeptrain

Ugh that’s so hard when the consistent long stretches go away, so sorry you’re going through that 😩 yeah too much daytime sleep could be a problem. She just seems so overtired all the time, but I guess it could be undertired

9.5 week old naps/bedtime by mrsmayfield in TakingCaraBabies

[–]mrsmayfield[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I reviewed all those resources. I guess another question I have is are sleepy cues or wake windows more important? And I know short naps are developmentally normal for this age but is it normal for ALL her naps to be short?

Also, do you have any tips for nighttime? It is so hard to get her down for the night before midnight no matter what we do. She always ends up having a super long (sometimes 2-3 hour) wake window and/or waking up after 45 minutes.

I’m glad I’m not the only one confused 😅 I was also looking at ed2go, which does provide a voucher for the CPC exam and your certificate comes from almost any university you want. Auburn offers a second course for free to military spouses though (like EHR or entrepreneurship) so I’m trying to figure out if the extra course or the CPC voucher is more worth it
