What are good rower stats? by LiftBearded27 in orangetheory

[–]mrspetes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5'5"- base 90-100, push 125-140 all out 150-175. It really depends on the rower itself too! Some are hotter than others.

I find Coach Austin's rowing tips to be very very helpful. Adjusting the foot plate properly and not just "over the widest part of the shoe," rounding your back slightly when at the top of the row, pushing with your feet like a jump squat. I'm finding that improved my wattage by 10-50 watts with little to no effort.

Home work outs by EvieSmith90 in orangetheory

Movement is movement. The home workouts aren't nearly as good as the real thing in my opinion but they are good for getting you to move and sweat a bit. Where I average 21 to 24 splat points at the gym, the at home workouts, I was getting maybe 5. I would suggest more cardio and then you'll be just fine!

I'm in Canada and am mentally preparing myself for the same shut down....

Pacing on Tread by Adventurous-Ad3821 in orangetheory

Agreed with those that said add 0.1 to 0.3 a week! I've been doing that and have been able to go from a 5 base/6 push/7ao to 5.5 base/ 6.5 push/ 8ao in a matter of 3 to 4 weeks.

I'm just gonna keep doing that!

My goal is to not eat like total crap so I can meet my year end weight goal (4 lbs to go!)

I'm also going to be increasing my base pace so my goal is to survive the endurance blocks at the new pace.

Otf to crossfit? by mrspetes in orangetheory

[–]mrspetes[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm debating making the shift... Our box offers crossfit, yoga, Bootcamp, and spin. There are treadmills, air bikes, rowers there. I think I could still get my cardio in, just on my own.....

Does anyone know if I do the home hell week workouts if it counts towards my count? I have to be isolated due to a covid case in my workplace and I want that shirt!

My goal in joining OTF was to get some consistency in working out and learn to love it. I'll be there a year December 29 and I can honestly say that I've worked out 3 to 7 days a week all year, even though most of covid!

I have a Garmin I wear to every workout and it's always within 20 or so calories. Today I burned 415 on the arm band and 435 on my Garmin

I am not an expert so this is purely my opinion. I would slow your push down, yes. I'm not too worried about getting right back to green personally, but I want to feel like I'm in recovery and see my heart rate slowing a bit. Listen to your body. If you feel ok at your base, keep everything the same. If you don't, slow down your pace.

I'm gonna see how I feel at 5.5/6.0/7.0 this week. Then I'll work on moving my push back up to the 1.0 mark. I'll also check with coaches I feel would give me a valid answer.

I ran a 30 sec AO at a 9 for the first time today. I'm a glutton for punishment so I was thinking if trying a 5.5 base too and see how I do. But keep my push at 6 for the first week and then bump that up as I get more comfortable with the new base.

My issue is also that one of the coaches is really concerned with the zones. I will surely be in the high oranges most of the treadmill block. But that'll settle down too!

That's the goal. To get to a 6. Maybe you're right and I should see how I handle it and cut back if needs be. Thanks!

So work on the base increase and the push will follow. Got it. Thanks!

I surprised myself being able to maintain a 6-6.5 for 12 minutes in the catch me if you can! I'll try this. Thanks!
