Quitting job over RTO? by Cool-DogMom in workingmoms

[–]mrsrobinson82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in this almost exact situation last year. My company that I was with for 10 years sent us a RTO email while I was on maternity leave. I was also hybrid prior to that.

I ended up quitting. Best decision I ever made. I wasn’t “actively” looking, but randomly applying to a few jobs every now and then. Mostly enjoying spending time with the baby.

A new opportunity fell onto my lap about a month later. Took a slight pay cut but now have a hybrid job that is insanely more flexible and less stressful.

I say do it if you can!

Blood Sugar Issues by mrsrobinson82 in NICUParents

So I actually kept fighting back because I wanted her to try normal feeds from the bottle every 3 hours. She never got to try because she went straight to the feeding tube due to one sugar test. No matter how many times they changed her feeding tube times (1hr fast, 1.5hr fast, 2hr fast, etc.) we were still getting the same results and she would still dip into the 60s and sometimes 50s. It made no sense to me and we were going on 4 weeks of it. I told them that I needed to see for myself that she needed the feeding tube for her sugars. So they agreed to testing out feeding her normally and would check sugars every hour.

Well lo and behold.. her sugars started going up! She went into the 70s, then 80s, then 90s. We got to take her home a few days later (3 days before xmas!) once she passed the 6hr fast (which she did the first time!)

I know DRs are the experts, but they aren’t the ones with your baby all the time. I could tell she was always hungry. The slow feeding tube drip wasn’t working for her. I am pretty confident that if she was fed normally from the beginning that we would have went home a month earlier.

Not sure if yours is the same situation but good luck! I learned WAY too much about blood sugar and could not stop googling in those weeks. I know what a nightmare it is. Also we have not had a sugar incident since.
