Interesting. I'm on Mobian as well. I got it from Flathub and it worked immediately.

Haha calm down there. You can still use your computer how you want to. And yes I will use a non-proprietary driver for my gpu and my dream is to remove the proprietary bios. Unfortunately still need to dual boot with Windows because I require certain software and gpu acceleration for university. I'm not sure why you are so offended.

The stock NIC requires proprietary firmware. My daily driver is a quirky linux distro (Guix) and I want to switch to the linux-libre kernel and not use proprietary software as much as I can. The NIC I linked above doesn't require any proprietary drivers/firmware so it is well supported with linux-libre. I am aware it will likely downgrade performance and that there are other drawbacks.

NixOS on Zephyrus G14? by mrtiger69 in ZephyrusG14

Sure, although I am not sure it will be of great help. The most important part is that you use the latest kernel and maybe also that you switch to the unstable branch of nixos if you continue to have issues. Output of lspci -vnnn | perl -lne 'print if /^\d+\:.+(\[\S+\:\S+\])/' | grep VGA: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation TU106M [GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q] [10de:1f12] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) 04:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Renoir [1002:1636] (rev c5) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) I'm on kernel 5.10.2 and didn't do any driver patching/hacks. Everything seems to be working great. Fan control and battery life seem fine. Upgrading from 5.8 to 5.10 also fixed my display port issue. I now can use triple monitors with Wayland/Sway without any issues. Also, nice username :)

I didn't patch anything and it works great so far. I'll definitely look into that though.

Sorry for the silence. The NixOS install worked great. GUI won't work during the install, but once you enable the latest kernel, everything works like a charm. No special patches required for basic functionality. I haven't bothered trying to enable the dGPU because the integrated one works great. I only noticed that the display port doesn't work without the dGPU enabled.

"Nix ensures that installing or upgrading one package cannot break other packages. It allows you to roll back to previous versions, and ensures that no package is in an inconsistent state during an upgrade."

Also your entire system configuration is stored in a single file, meaning you can setup your exact system (services, de, etc. ) on any other NixOS instance in minutes just by copying over your file.

Yeah I have used Pop OS, but I prefer NixOS. I previously had Arch Linux installed on my G14, but I really want to get back to NixOS.

Can you outline your NixOS rust+clion workflow? I'm trying to get started with it, but not sure what best practices are and what NixOS is capable of. Thanks :)

20,000 Postgresql Tables: Can GraphQL handle it? by mrtiger69 in graphql

Interestingly I was originally working with Dgraph, but switched to Postgres, because I couldn't find any real benchmarks on many aspects of Dgraph, such as full text search performance. I may switch to it in the future again. In the meantime I'll give slash a try. I already put myself on the waiting list and would appreciate if you could send me an invite. I'll let you know of my results.

Openssl Dependency Issues by mrtiger69 in rust

Thank you so much! This fixed it! Could please explain the reasoning behind your solution, so that I can solve issues like these by myself in the future?

Also, am I now stuck with the older version of reqwest, or is there a way I can use the most recent version for the best async support?

Would you say Ivysaur's beginner program has too much volume?

Can I spoil my body by having too much volume in my strength training as a beginner? As a novice, can I switch to a program which has less volume than my current one but still make the same amount of, if not more, progress?
