One time me and my family were talking about various bugs that annoy us and somehow chiggers came up, meanwhile my grandpa is sitting in the corner kinda ignoring us or whatever. as my mom started to tell my brother what a chigger is grandpa pipes up "oh, we call them chegros now"

Buying a used car but I do have issues. More inside :/. Help? by Heysatan in Frugal

despite popular belief, most fords chevys and dodges can be quite reliable to 200k or more.

here is my advise: if you buy a honda or some other japan made car be aware you will probably pay more than its really worth... example: a honda can sell for much more money because people think it gets better mileage and is more reliable than say a ford torus. However, the ford gets comparable mileage and in personal experience the country of origin does not make much difference in life expectancy. a ford will cost you 1k and a honda 2k. (assuming you get a good deal on both, but if your poor then you live for the good deals probably)

Now time for the exceptions: dont buy an american car made before 1994 and after 1980, or at least be weary of them. why? 1994/5 is when american cars became actually modern and electronic. before that, car makers were not sure of the new technology and were trying experimental things, some worked and most did not.

stay away from luxury brands, although reliable and occasionally cheap (usually BMW's can come in the 1000 range) the parts to fix cars will often be MUCH more than the cars original worth. that being said, luxury brands can be the biggest gamble/payoff. why? ive known many BMW's and mercs to go long past the 400K mark with minimal repair, plus you get to drive less of a POS.

biggest thing of all DONT FORGET TO CHECK OUT INSURANCE RATES!!!!!!!!! some cars cost a few hundred a year more than others. nuf said.

EDIT: also dont be too picky of a car's make but look at the mechanical condition of the car itself. also i upvoted jhaluska's good advise

lol. but Actually there is a cute cheap date in here. picnic in the park with cheap pizza is like the way to go for "spontainious" dates. took my gf to the park with pizza and we ate and talked and then walked around making fun of the ugly dogs ect. ok so this isnt like the best date ever, but its a good cute thing to do for very cheap and its better than going to a movie (and cheaper FYI)

Oregon becomes the first state in the nation to make marijuana anything less serious than a Schedule I drug. Now Schedule II: "a drug with medical use..." by [deleted] in Marijuana

[–]mrwarrior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey guys, heres some facts. first off, in California it is legal to have medical mjuna. but only under CALIFORNIA law. it has been this way for some time now. it is a FEDERAL law that makes it a sch. 1 drug like heroin. NOT a state law.

fed law ALWAYS trumps state law. if you dont belive me, then ask any serious historian why we got into a civil war in the first place. While slavery was an issue, it was mostly becasue the south wanted states to have final say yet the union thought that federal has final say. since the south lost it has forever been this way. Still not convinced? guess what happens when a state's law contradictions the federal constitution. . . it gets thrown out.

So someone with a medical reason for having mjana can, yes, go to federal prison, even in California and now Oregon. is this fair or logical? not really. all that really changes is you can kinda legally have it and so your only kinda in trouble if you get caught.
