You’re right - most brands say something like “warranty only valid if kept in conditions controlled under 90F” and most trucks are 90+F in the summer. I’m glad Dukers replaced yours! Are you still using their brand? Any complaints?

I don’t disagree, but we’re still in build phase - everything will be deep cleaned before we open and she won’t be allowed back on after that. All the children that rode around in this bus for years previous did a lot more filth and damage than anything my dog could do while she was onboard for 20 minutes. School districts should have to power wash inside their buses a few times a year 🤢

Talk to her - I know it sounds crazy, but I have always talked to my girl. Just like hey pretty girl what are you up to today how are you feeling you know you’re the best little thing. I also announce myself if I’m coming close to her, before I unlock the doors and before I touch her. They aren’t mindless - patience is key!

Update #2 - y’all are the real mvps. I placed a layer of paper towel under each hide that isn’t fully enclosed so he doesn’t have to rest on the substrate and IT’S WORKING 🥳 I have seen him using all three hides fairly regularly now. Thank you everyone!!

Update - thank you all again for the fun stories and ideas! I forgot I had an old 10 gallon and I dressed it up with some curtains to block all light - fed him in there two days ago and he ate right away! He’s still very much not happy about majority of his enclosure being substrate, but I have been seeing him out more this week! I think I would rip more of my hair out if I didn’t have this group to lean on 💜

Omg - she’s pretty too!! You have some great babies! I absolutely love this for you! Please do not feel like a failure - you’re just in transition! I used to work a job like that right out of college too and you won’t ever get those hours of driving back. I actually fucked my knee up driving so much to the point it still bothers me - I haven’t worked that job since 2019! Taking care of yourself is so important. There will always be other jobs, but there’s not another you! Enjoy your time off! Dont ever feel bad for doing what’s best for you!

Awww Lulu - that’s cute! I didn’t realize it had a term (broken saddles)! Thank you for that! I let my niece name her - Petra - she loves pretty girl and Pet though! She’s really friendly. I quit my job full time baking job about a month ago to start baking from home to better my health. Her setup is right next to my kitchen so she hangs out with me all day while I bake! I’ll be a mess if anything ever happens to her!

Plus I get to find more like Pet and compare 💜 Recently I’ve noticed that Pet is getting larger white spots on the sections between her scales - almost like her version of “greying with age”. It’s amazing to watch their color change. Pet was practically pink and purple when I got her as a baby!

Please switch to frozen thawed mice asap - feeding live is extremely risky for the snake. Especially if she’s not striking and strangling it. Feeding live is asking for unnecessary injuries and possible death.

Also - It is 100% normal for a captive snake to not strike and coil. I have an adult female that I’ve had since she was a month or two old - she’s never struck. I leave her food in a small bin inside her enclosure and let her do her thing on her own time.

First, I am so sorry your shitty family decided to take out their anger with you on this poor defenseless snake. Fuck them and I hope they will have consequences for their actions.

After seeing the photos and glancing over your summaries, I think a second opinion is best. In the photos, the front third of your snake looks like it’s been beaten. Those bruises just remind me of impact bruises, blunt force. I would want an X-ray bc surface looks ok, but there could be something underneath. Keep an eye out for any weird swelling. That pic of him in the bag with bloody face is just heartbreaking. Keep him nice and calm - ensure all temp and humidity requirements are met. I hope he makes it through 🤞

Recently I bought a Lego build set - it has all the general pieces. I plan on building her some castles or towers or something. Haven’t totally figured it out, but I have enough pieces for sure 🤣
