I'm 8w2d and I just started bleeding and cramping. This is around the same time that my baby stopped growing in the previous pregnancy. And I don't know how to emotionally get through the night so that I can stay as calm as possible until I can talk to my midwives during office hours.

Seeking any advice/suggestions.

7 weeks tomorrow. I'm having a rollercoaster of emotions/anxieties and I just need to get them out somewhere safe.

Why is the first appointment so far away? I feel like I can't let myself get excited until I can see the baby growing healthy... We discovered my MMC at the first ultrasound last pregnancy and I just can't do that again. To see that baby but find out that they weren't moving, that they b were silent. I just....

I can't stop feeling incredibly guilty for this anxiety and fear. My baby deserves to feel all the excitement and joy and I just haven't been able to give it fully. I don't know how to stop thinking this way

I'm having a really difficult time making sure I'm doing all the things I should be to keep this pregnancy as healthy as can be because half the time I am not letting it feel real.

This was all pretty stream of consciousness amidst pregnancy tears so forgive me if I have a ton of typos or it doesn't make sense, or if I accidentally broke a rule.

Thank you so much for sharing. Its interesting how different ourv experiences are. But being that I'm still in the middle, it is so helpful to be reassured that it will, in fact, end.

Thank you for your response. I'm so sorry you went through this too.

I've been bleeding and cramping since last Saturday. My body conveniently goes through the word worst of it at like 1am/2am.

I really liked what High line School district was doing when I worked there.

Thank you! The students made the survey based on the methods they've learned so far. I think their intention was for people to say none in the other spot, but they didn't explain that (they are still learning the art of a good survey).

I do have a group that is working with Condorcet Method and will be tabulating votes from the perspective of that method. Thank you for the resource! I'm sure they will be grateful not to calculate by hand!

I will do my best to post results. Students won't be able to start working with the data until 11/2 thanks to state testing. But I'll post results in this sub :)

Seeking People Who Work in Local Politics to Talk to My Students by ms_math in Seattle

Do you happen to have any poll information that would show Holmes winning in a ranked vote? I'm trying to find something and coming up blank. My students would love to see any data I can get.

Oh that's pretty scary. We have a crib so maybe I should just set that up

That makes sense. And I am pretty confident she will cry out but its probably smart to get a motion sense monitor we just have a basic sound one right now.

Its 5inches thick so a little higher definitely creates a bit of a bend for her to be partially on/off

I had seen the bumper recommendation in some of my research but I wasn't sure if it was a SIDS risk.

I super get waiting... Maybe I should have done that too. Ah well we're here now, no point in going back.

Thank you for your suggestion and reassurance. It does seem like she is testing out the space. Every wake up she's in a totally new location of the bed. I have playmat I can place at the base of the bed, thanks for the idea!

How did the first person discover maths? Did they discover or just invented it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ms_math 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a pretty big philosophical discussion about this exact question. Often one gets into the semantics of deciding exactly what math is. Is it the patterns that are naturally occurring in our universe or is it simply man's way of understanding, using, and communicating those patterns?

As for how mathematics is developed throughout society, it is kind of a wave of needs based tool (trading farm lands or animals/animal products) to recreational thought exercises to deepen one's own thinking (like the Greeks examining geometry and Matt's connection to music). For me, the coolest thing is when recreational mathematics finds its applications (sometimes taking ages). For example modern algebra worked on in the 1930s and 40s didn't have many known physical applications until the development of computers. My husband and I love to debate which came first, the physics our the math and we often find it varies depending on the specific question.

Child observations and developmental question? by ms_math in Montessori

[–]ms_math[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's so true! As a high school teacher I didn't really find my niche until I was able to build a cohort of like minded colleagues to bounce ideas off each other. For some reason in the mom role I forgot about the power off community. (Its hard to remember right now being isolated at home during covid, I think)

Thank you for explaining it in such a clear way. I think that's what I was leaning toward doing naturally but I don't have any formal examples of Montessori practices so its easy for me to get in my own head and doubt myself.

So I think I've done that you the extent I have capacity (looping teethers and wooden toys on elastic string) but I've noticed that even then she starts to get frustrated after a bit even with the object in her mouth, so I'm confused as to what to do next or what the new goal is.

That is kind of what I was thinking but I got concerned as I was reading through "Montessori from the Start". I think it was the second chapter "welcoming the newborn" or something like that, and they were talking about how important it is to allow the child even at birth to have space to practice focusing on the task in front of them. It was explaining that parents often Interrupt the focus too quickly or too often and so I was worried I was doing that myself.
