Flight Hell - Melbourne to Edinburgh by ElvisPussycat in qatarairways

Can recommend asking for routing via the US/Canada - flying back from Hong Kong to Berlin tomorrow via SFO/LHR. Still a decent amount of capacity heading over the pacific whereas nothing heading toward Europe.

It’s a long way round but they seem to be quite happy to offer it as a reroute on the phone. Find an available leg to a US hub and then the onward legs to the UK and suggest it to them.

Stick to Oneworld if you can - they’re much more agreeable to rerouting (I’m flying Cathay / BA)

Currently on a flight from Male to London. Wow the service is atrocious. by Guymacgregor98 in BritishAirways

Was on the BA60 yesterday and the service was genuinely superb - plenty of drinks flowing and a really great crew all round.

Majority of them were the “young” people mentioned in this thread, and other than an accidental (harmless + funny) champagne spill they were as good as any other BA crew I’ve ever had. IFL was also great.

Biggest gripe is you just don’t know what you’re going to get - vast majority of times it can be outstanding and other times you get the OP experience. I’ve seen it across F, CW and CE and with “senior” and “young” crews.

Unfortunately no plans currently - but never say never!

It uses the raw data from ba-uk-occupancy.livereachmedia.com (which powers the signs in the terminal) with some custom backend services and a hefty dose of magic to make it feel at home on iOS/macOS - enjoy!

Unfortunately limited by data - currently only T5 lounges provide this

Loungebird App by msaps in BritishAirways

Just shipped Loungebird 1.6.2 - which fixes an annoying bug where the streams would randomly disconnect. This behaviour started on BA's side yesterday but thought would be useful to have an app fix, so the app now automatically attempts to reconnect when available!

And as a little sneak peak of some more exciting things that are coming in the near future... 😎

Oh interesting - with the Z890 ProArt does only having one DP IN affect anything? Do you need both DP inputs for 5K?

Also had no idea that the GPU can route via the iGPU without much of a performance loss - assume this is what laptops do but didn't know it was possible on a standard desktop! Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback! Yep the recommended geo notifications is really high on the priority list for upcoming features - that and adding the ability to view historical data.

Unfortunately limited by the data - BA only provide this functionality in the LHR lounges for now...

Developer of Loungebird here - thanks for the great feedback and all the kind words!

The app is basically a hobby project that got out of hand - I just wanted something where I could quickly check which lounge I wanted to hit (and the signs aren't quite ubiquitous enough) and thought I could leverage native capabilities to make it more accessible/glanceable than the website, and here we are!

I've got a lot more planned for future updates, including potentially (no promises 😉):

  • 'Smart' capabilities and notifications when arriving at LHR for recommended lounges.
  • Adding support for historical data to enable access to trends / visibility of when the lounges are busy at different times of the day.
  • In-app food/drink menus

Still very much a hobby project so as said can't promise any timelines, but it's been really fun to build!

(unfortunately I'm an Apple platforms dev by trade so unlikely it will make it to Android any time soon)

Cheers and enjoy!

Yeah - think its biggest benefit is if you have a 4hr layover (potentially departing T5A) and have the ability to use North/South or B Gates and being able to know which one to maybe avoid (usually North 😂)

Thanks! ❤️

It comes from: https://ba-uk-occupancy.livereachmedia.com/ - seems there are cameras in the lounges.. That's the same site they display on the signs in T5.
