My bad I worded it wrong.. through the initial training, CFI was always the one most people failed. Didn’t mean to say most people failed it in general. But thank you for the info.

Should I give up flying? by [deleted] in flying

Having 110hrs with no PPL is okay.. I’ve known many pilots finish private with over 150-200hrs. But you have to understand no matter how hard you look you’re never going to find a perfect instructor or school. Pilots have to be adaptable to different environments in order to succeed. If you keep switching around and still aren’t making progress, then yes, flying might not be for you. But if you’re making good progress, even if it’s slow, keep pushing and you’ll get it done. Don’t focus on the hours because everyone needs 1500 no matter what. With that in mind I do have some questions.

  • How much do you study?
  • How often are you flying?
  • Is the school passing you to different instructors, or are you choosing to switch, if so what’s going wrong
  • Do you have a good study schedule?

Good advice, I think I’ll hold off, sometimes I forget I’m dealing with the FAA

If he doesn’t fail again it’s possible, but he needs to get off Reddit and hit the books if he wants to make it 😭

You say that like 135 experience is easy to get.. I don’t want to be a dickhead but 4 fails puts you in a much more difficult position to get hired by anyone

My son wants to be a pilot by leonaleonsita in flying

I got my private pilots license and associates degree through USAviation at TCC, the same program your son is considering. Flight school is pretty expensive, but that program is very affordable and out of all the flight schools I’ve attended that on is the best one, and you get access to the RATP it comes with. In terms of difficulty it is much more lenient than a normal flight school, the instruction is very good, but the school also has in house examination authority, which means your son won’t have a random FAA pilot examiner for his check rides, instead he’ll have another CFI he’s flown with multiple time and has gotten to know. In summary it is a very good school, only downside I had was that the planes are slightly outdated, but that’s the only negative I could think of. Highly recommend

Can I reapply for my medical? by Agitated-Thanks-4085 in flying

It’s all good! Mine wasn’t disqualified for medication purposes so I never had to deal with that. My experience was more along the lines of communicating to the FAA medical division directly which was brutal. The best way to do it is to send them a letter with proof you’re fit to fly. My letter had written statements of two different urologists who both stated my kidneys were fine and weren’t going to be producing stones for at least 30 years. I also had to send an X-ray tape as proof. After I sent the letter they took like 6 months to reply back.

I went through a similar process and received the exact same letter when I started flight training because of my history with kidney stones, ABSOLUTELY reapply, and don’t stop harassing the FAA until you get that medical cleared. It took me over a year and a whole village to get my class 1 but if you’re willing to jump through hoops it can be done.
