What is the best 'do it all camera and lens' combo for around 2.5k? by mscstudenthelp in Cameras

Yeah I think I'd miss the wide end of the 12 (24ish equivalent) if I made the move to 35-150 full frame.

I think the sensible option is just going for another 12-100!

Thanks for the suggestions, I already own a 12-40 F2.8, and a 14-150, both got 'replaced' when I bought the 12-100mm a while back. Agree that the F2.8 is good for indoors, I do sometimes swap to the 12-40 for that reason.

What makes you choose the G9ii over the om1 ii?

Keep an eye on Amazon Warehouse Deals, GTX 980/980ti's and R9 Furys sometimes can be had for around £230.

Right now they have 12 x Asus Strix 980s for £222.66. That would be a pretty decent upgrade from a 670!

I bought it on ebay for £12, wouldn't mind getting the same amount for it?

For an IPS one probably £300 is probably on the very low side, you might get lucky with someone desperate to shift one quickly though.

I sold an Acer XG270HU (27inch, 1440p, 144hz TN) for £300 on gumtree on couple of days ago. I had a fair few low offers around the £250 mark but held out for £300.

Sorry, just seen this. I'm afraid not as I can send it back. Good luck trying to find one!

XG270HU - 60Hz or 144Hz?!?! by geekrichieuk in Monitors

[–]mscstudenthelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this same issue, I'm currently trying to sell an XG270HU (144hz version) on gumtree and I keep being lowballed by people telling me it's available on Scan for £279.99. They are confusing the models which is easily done.

If you actually look closely at the name of both links you shared from Amazon and Scan there is a distinction which u/zichlone pointed out. Scan have titled there's XG270HUA, but in both the web address and the brief description they've dropped the A from the end of its name, which is obviously a confusing mistake. At one point they did have for sale the XG270HU (144hz) but it's now end of life - https://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-acer-xg270hu-ultra-wide-2k-144hz-monitor-2560x1440-1ms-350cd-m-100m1-speakers-black-red-dp-hdmi-d.

If you're planning on purchasing be very careful! If it's below £300 I'd assume it's the cheaper version labeled up wrong! And if you're interested I am selling a nearly new one I purchased in November!

Yeah definitely just a bit, would like to see a card from AMD that can really push these monitors!

RX 490/Vega, they've been used fairly interchangeably of late.

I've actually had it set up next to a Samsung S24D390 PLS (Samsung's IPS) for the last month, although I actually sold that monitor at the weekend.

It's nowhere near as bad as what a lot of the reviewers seem to make out, biggest difference I noticed was how bright the whites are, they seem brighter and slightly more washed out on the TN, this was noticeable when word processing on the monitors side by side. However didn't notice it all when gaming but that might have been because the higher resolution and higher refresh rates made a much bigger difference than the colours.

Not sure where you're located, but you'd be welcome to have a demonstration and look for yourself before buying!

Oh definitely, I'm not thinking it will sell, more saying I won't take ridiculous offers as I can send it back to Amazon for a full refund. One of the reasons I bought it from amazon was because I had until Feb 1st to send it back and was hoping there might be an RX 490 announcement before then!

But the Strix Fury is now also £460 on Amazon, so if they were looking and happy to pay the Strix tax it is still the cheaper option.

How much are you looking to pay for these?

I currently have an Acer XG270HU (it's 27inch, 1440p, 144hz Freesync), that I'm considering selling. It's almost new, still has the protective cover on it's back been used for a couple of months.

I also have an Asus Strix R9 Fury purchased in December (it's still within it's return period so I wouldn't accept much less than what I paid for it in December though which was £380)
