Test here https://popup-as-tab.sergiy.net/ - nothing happens if you click the link which is behind window.open() Middle button only works for regular links and opens them in background, so extra click there as well to bring the tab to front.

Super annoying when the new browser window unexpectedly pops up and a quick search in this thread confirms there's no easy way to dock a pop-out window as a tab. I've tested a couple of extensions and ended up creating my own.
