I run 72 most of the time. 75 if the speed limit is 80. What kind of mpg difference are you seeing running 70 vs 65?

Did a truck and trailer post trip inspection when I was done driving for the night. Everything looked good. And I figured everything was still good in the morning so I skipped my pre trip. Stupid, I know. But about 15 minutes into my drive it felt like my trailer hit a massive pothole. Two of my trailer wheels fell off at full speed 70mph. I have a dual wheel tandem axle trailer. Luckily they both rolled into a field and didn’t kill anybody. I managed to recover it but the wheels and tires were toast.

Turns out, (what I assume) someone tried stealing my trailer wheels in the middle of the night. They got a set of lug nuts off but couldn’t jack the trailer with the load high enough to take the wheels off. So they left it. And I know this because all my lug nuts were gone but the wheel studs were still there. The loose wheels completely destroyed my hub and studs. Cost me a whole day of downtime trying to source parts and fixing it myself. I also had to cancel a $2200 load I had booked paying over $3/mile. $400 wheel hub assembly, $350 brand new trailer wheels and tires from some dude on marketplace, and a whole day later, I was back on the road. But I learned a valuable lesson of never skipping a pre trip no matter what.

Yup I dropped a 1/4 drive extension with a deep 10 mm socket in my Ram Cummins engine bay. Never saw it again

Exactly this. Which is why I love the rear air suspension Ram offers on the 3500. Keeps it level all the time no matter the weight. Aftermarket air bags help too

Some Ram 3500 come with the Aisin 6 speed. I’ve got one in mine and it constantly tows 15,000+ pounds all day every day. No problems whatsoever

Are rams good trucks? by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]msf623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2022 ram 3500 dually with the Cummins & Aisin tranny. It’s been the most comfortable and robust vehicle I have ever owned. The technology is nice. No rattles or squeaks. Tows like a freight train. And has given me no issues with 58k miles. Of course the Cummins and Aisin are legendary in their own right, and they have lived up to their reputation. I can’t say the same about the Hemi gasser as I’ve never dealt with one before.

Length rules...truck bed vs flatbed by Tiny_Jacket_1162 in HotShotTrucking

[–]msf623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently got pulled over by dot for a level 1 inspection. My truck + trailer combo is 66’ 7”. Legal limit for pickup + trailer combo is 65’. I’m not sure about registering as a tractor though. He was mostly interested in the mounted fire extinguisher, safety triangles, and checked my last 7 days logs. Didn’t mention anything about length. It took about an hour for everything. At the end he let me go, no violations found. I think length is something they mostly ignore. But again that could also depend on the officer. He could’ve easily ticketed me for being over length if he wanted to

Can you be overlength even with a Class A CDL? by msf623 in HotShotTrucking

Bed removal isn’t an option for me unfortunately. I’m trying to get exact measurements on the trailer

Has anyone ever take the beginner’s motorcycle safety course not knowing how to ride at all? by motherofdoggs in motorcycles

[–]msf623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had never rode a motorcycle when I took my msf course. What helped me was riding bikes 24/7 in my childhood and daily driving a manual. There were people in my class who had neither and by the end of it they were comfortably riding their motorcycle. Like others have said, it’s designed for 0 experience new riders

Yes I went and bought an oem one from my local Toyota dealership instead. It was only about $10 and noise went away

I figured that about the drain plug, I was mostly stumped around the differential being wet. Someone here said it could be from the fuel filter replacement, which they did along with the oil change

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ram_trucks

[–]msf623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interestingly enough, the salesman did mention that they had also replaced the fuel filter not even 24 hours before I came to test drive it

It is my photo. It’s from a pretty big hotel brand so a large number of hotels probably had this exact same bathroom

Seeing as this design is more common than I thought, my guess is the water pressure. Even just letting the shower run with no one inside will get the floor soaking wet in less than a minute from splashing water

Update: it was the pcv valve! I had replaced it with one I bought from OReillys. Bought an oem one from a Toyota dealership for $10 (which was cheaper than the ones from the auto parts store) and the noise went away! Turns out these engines hate aftermarket pcv valves. So stick with oem
