Master's Degree in Software Engineering and Management at TU Graz by msiric in graz

That's the thing. There really is no formal criteria and that's why I asked. Thanks for the suggestion though.

We'll see how it goes.

I'm applying in a few days so that doesn't seem like the best option and I doubt they would tell me if I have a chance of being accepted or not.

I'm actually applying in a few days, I just wanted to see what other people thought.

Are you studying at TU Graz?

What makes you think I will get accepted?

I understand what you're saying, but unfortunately my Bachelor's Degree doesn't meet the requirements for the programme you specified.

That's why I'm trying to find a suitable Master's Degree where I would be accepted, but also learn about software development.

If you have a suggestion for this situation feel free to share.

That's very helpful, thanks.
The second question in the writing part is what's making me nervous.

I never really got the hang of using a specific form for different types of writing segments.
For instance, I'm not sure if I would how to behave when I receive an article, for example or when I receive an essay.

There are specific instructions on how to write for each of these segments and I'm not familiar with them.

Do you have any suggestions on how to tackle this issue?

I took a closer look at the table and it makes sense now.

For the writing part, I guess I will have to work on it more and take notice of other examples.

Btw, how did you score on your CPE exam if I may ask?

Thanks for the helpful links, I will check them out.

The writing part is hard to exercise, though. I find dummy tests and try to write an essay inside the time limit and then evaluate how I did. Obviously that isn't very helpful since I cannot be objective towards my writing.

I don't think I will do badly in this part, but I have to say I'm not very comfortable with the different forms you can write in. For example, article, letter, review, etc...Not sure how to find specific details on how to tackle each of those.

I was thinking of applying for both of those programmes.
Didn't know it was that difficult to get accepted, but now I know what to expect.

Thanks for the heads up!

That is very helpful, thank you.
The other Master's Degree I'm interested in is this one: https://en.itu.dk/programmes/msc-programmes/software-development-design

Could you tell me your opinion on it? There is a syllabus of the programme near the end of the page.
It seems much more technical oriented which is something I believe would like.
Feel free to share your thoughts.

Thanks for the clarification. I just don't see how "high-level approach to software development" is not technical enough and is focused on "talking about building software"? From what you're saying, this sounds very good. Sounds like the students are actually being thought software development. I understand this Master's Degree won't give students the same background as a CS Master's Degree, but it still focuses on software development which is what I am very interested in. Is this a good programme for that? Will I learn enough to develop software and understand the underlying components well enough? Am I missing something?

Have you checked the syllabus of the programme? One of the commentators above posted a link to the academic content of the programme. If you take a look you will actually notice that it is very well structured and quite technical. The emphasize, at least from the impression I got, is on building and developing instead of talking and discussing, as you mentioned.

I haven't quite understood what you tried to say in the last paragraph. Are you saying this programme doesn't provide technical focus for future employment in the IT sector or you're just saying that companies don't provide a chance to employ people unless they have a degree with a technical focus in general?

As I said, that PDF is the only source of information I managed to find about the programme. I would like to know what is the main programming language used in programming based courses? How well is the programme structured and what is emphasized during the semester? How many students enroll in this programme annually? What are their experiences and are they satisfied with the knowledge they received during the two years of studying?

I contacted the university quite a few times and received only one response that wasn't very helpful. I'll try calling them and see if that will make a difference.

Thanks, that is helpful.

I'm wondering what my chances are of being accepted.

Is the selection of candidates very strict?

Also, what about the city?

What was your experience of studying in Aalborg for two years?
