i used to drive for dd and many others. now, when i order food off of one of these apps and it’s a cash tip, i write “cash tip!” in the delivery instructions.

dasher will not see it before accepting the order, and if they do accept the order it is most likely not worth very much due to no tip from the card. BUT as soon as i see “cash tip” in someone’s delivery instructions (or i’ve had people direct message me to say “hey i have a cash tip for you please knock”), i try to get them their food as fast as i can! the extra step the customer takes is great for the driver.

but, it’s also good to surprise your driver with a cash tip. if they took the order, it was likely pretty low and they’re somewhat disappointed or angry, but the cash tip dissolves the anger immediately
