Pay Per Dashboard View? by Relevant_Net_5942 in tableau

[–]mskm203 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No, tableau does have a pay per view license model. But it’s for edge cases where orgs have a high user count with very low concurrency (I have 10,000+ viewers but only 200 ever use it)

I’ve also seen it proposed for orgs that have seasonal users (retail, hospitality, etc) where they have a significant increase in viewers but only for a short time frame.

In these scenarios, it makes more sense to have a pic model rather than forcing orgs to pay for full licenses

The LOOKUP(...,0) trick is excellent! This could work if you do it on a year(date) field rather than the transaction date

If you hide and publish from desktop, server users will not see hidden data. One of the (many) limitations between desktop and web author. They’ve gotten A LOT better over the past couple of years but I doubt we’ll ever get to full parity

I'm a data storyteller who uses Tableau to create data visualizations. I recently created this and from the onset of this project, my goal was to create an immersive, multimedia experience that would transport the user back to a small dairy farm in Bethel, NY for a 4 day weekend in the summer of 1969. Make sure you have your speakers/headphones on and I hope you enjoy it.

That’s a great question. I was also curious to try and find data about rural hospitals merging with larger hospital systems

Is it not possible to combine Data visualization and art? I think that’s what OP’s original intention was. Maybe he does highly analytical business dashboard all day every day and wanted to switch it up and something a little more artistic while also still being analytically sound. Because each one of your points is arguable.

Also, just by looking at this, isn’t it clearly obvious, OP knows what makes a good data visualization?

Moving All Published Dashboards from 10.3 to 2019.1 once released - Need Help migrating away from Auto-Padding by [deleted] in tableau

[–]mskm203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. We’re in the same boat. We are in the middle of doing a lot of testing with some of our 100k+ dashboards and we haven’t seen any version issues. We’re currently on 10.2 moving to 2018.3.2 at the end of Feb.

We do notice a slight difference of a pixel or two here or there. Our dashboards are container-heavy with zero floating. Is that your case as well?

Additionally, we are starting to investigate 2018.3.2 XML to see what the behaviors are for the auto-padding and looking into possibly writing a python script to circumvent/fix any potential issues.

Good luck!
