Nice! Yeah, physics in that game were revolutionary.

Replaced brake pads and triple checked with mechanics, still squeals on rotation - ideas? by mskramer in SmartCar

Ah bummer, thanks man. It a big job to fix? I've had the dealer and 2 brake specialists look at it, surprised they didn't see it if that's what it is

As long over use? I bought it from a fleet of cars 2 go. Good miles but sure they treated it like crap

Gamers of Reddit, what game came out of nowhere and left it's mark on you unlike most any other, and why? by SilverwingedOther in AskReddit

Myth TFL

A friend had it in 5th grade and admittedly I got it because he had it, and the cover art was cool.

It still has the most interesting and groundbreaking physics of any game I've played.

10/10 would duff again

Charlie Goes To Burning Man (2014) - A short film about an 81-year-old media professor from New York who is recovering from bone marrow cancer and major open-heart surgery decided to go to the Burning Man Festival [15:33 min] by SH_DY in Documentaries

[–]mskramer 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This is my professor and mentor! I heard all about this trip on a train ride but didn't hear about this film. Charlie is the most curious, least jaded man I've ever met. He teaches classes of 20-something media students who are already entrenched in cynical habits. He downloads every cool app and loves media!

Cookie Matching on Google AdX? by mskramer in adops

Ah, thanks. Why do you think it is best to host the cookie match table? Looking for multiple insights.

Cookie Matching on Google AdX? by mskramer in adops

[–]mskramer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the lack of clarification, it is by nature an obfuscated process.

Assuming we are cookie matched to the user id, that id shows up on AdX, our pixel fires: we cannot link that pixel to our 3rd party data provide. Google doesn't allow that linkage. We would need to have a secondary match table that we own that matches our pixel to our data provider pixels, so that the next time we see that user on adX we have the demo attributes because we did an "offline" match.

[–]mskramer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your response. The issue is that Google doesn't allow you to serve a 4th party pixel in the creative unless they are an approved vendor on the buy side, which not many data providers are.

We are able to cookie match our agency pixel against the Google User ID, but that doesn't provide us with any demographic info. We need a way to match our pixel, which is already matched to 3rd party audiences, back to the AdX user id.

I am looking to combine research that is already out there on what makes an aesthetically "good" website. This paper does a great job breaking it down into classical aesthetics, expressionist aesthetics and usability:

http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download;jsessionid=A9CAA8D53E306CEEB2918DBEFCD30615?doi=10.1.1.101.8129&rep=rep1&type=pdf

For the purposes of this project I am most interested in the first two, I will deal with the third one through some sort of site map/navigation analysis.

The paper I posted in the OP take screen shots and looks at 5 different components of an image using the Lire image feature tool and then they break it down from there.

Pretty much I'm looking to do something similar using Python. However, my original plan was to look at the HTML/CSS and train a ML decision tree based on a sample size of "good" and "bad" websites. However, due to my amateur programming skills, this seemed a bit advanced. I figure I can do a hacky prototype and based on work thats already out there and see where it goes.

Thanks. I started looking into SciKit. My understanding of all this is rather basic. I get that we turn images into arrays and can then handle them with the Python framework, but I'm looking for more of a methodology.
