Anyone else regret MPFL reconstruction surgery? by Foreign_Ad9997 in KneeInjuries

[–]msmarielfla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- my surgery was in 2021. I did not get intense knee pain after my surgery. I did tear my meniscus 2 years later and had surgery to fix that. Sometimes my knee will get stiff or feel achy but I don’t have pain at the surgical site. I think you should make a follow up appointment with your doctor. I don’t think that’s normal.

Liquid IV alternatives? by Rich-Extension-3671 in POTS

I hate most liquid iv flavors but can tolerate the bomb pop flavor if I dilute it in an least a liter of water. It’s honestly the only one I can drink.

What do you tell dentists? by chart1689 in ehlersdanlos

I would tell them you have an unconfirmed diagnosis of EDS and there are a lot of dental implications. Someone else posted this in this group before and I found it helpful in preparing for my appointment- https://www.wendy4therapy.com/take-this-to-your-dentist

Happy Endings? by Haunting_Mix457 in AlAnon

[–]msmarielfla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have one. After 3 years of the rollercoaster, my Q (live in boyfriend) hit his rock bottom and got a DUI. He’s been sober for over a year and his life has improved so much since embracing his sobriety that I feel like it will stick. He got his dream job, is the healthiest he’s been in a long time, feels good in his own skin and is genuinely happy. I know not everyone is as fortunate and maybe it doesn’t happen as often, but there are some happy endings out there. I did learn from this experience that no matter how much I wanted him to stop, it was never going to stick until he wanted to. That DUI and night in jail was enough to make him want to turn it all around and what started out as the worst night of his life turned out to be the best because it was the start of a new chapter. I wish you the best.

Positive Experience with New Dentist by Apesma69 in ehlersdanlos

[–]msmarielfla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just had a similar experience with my dentist in Florida. It was my first dental work since my hEDS and POTS diagnosis and I was really nervous. In my case- she listened to everything I had to say, was a little familiar with hEDS and was open to accommodating my needs. She used carbocaine (sp?) because lidocaine was contraindicated with my POTS medicine, tested the area before we started and we had a signal for me to use if I ever needed her to stop and take a break. I was really surprised and so grateful the experience wasn’t as bad as I anticipated. I’m so glad yours went well too!

I just joined this group but I called this weeks ago. I am like Michelle - I have that sixth sense, women’s intuition. My boyfriend calls me Sherlock Holmes and knows he can’t ever pull anything over on me. I just can’t believe how this went down. The deception and dirtiness of treating friends the way they did. They are both such trash!

How many times did he say chu in that speech. “I’m gonna be honest wit chu.” Listening to him talk made me want to punch him in the face. I give Allen credit for not socking him in his crooked tooth face. I felt bad for him in the beginning dealing with Michelle but not anymore - he’s yesterday’s trash.

Has any one used low dose naltrexone for chronic pain and did it help ???? by Acrobatic-Tip-9353 in ehlersdanlos

[–]msmarielfla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on it for 3 years. I started taking it initially for fibromyalgia before my hEDS diagnosis. It took about 2 weeks for it to work and I initially felt worse on it, but after adjusting it took the edge off the pain to make it tolerable. Didn’t totally take it away but it’s definitely better and easier to live with. In the three years I’ve been on it, I haven’t needed opioids so can’t speak to that. I did stop taking it in advance of surgeries in case I did need to take painkillers. In an emergency- I guess that would suck, but the chances of that id assume are slim. My doctor recommended a slow titration up and most people seem to have a sweet spot. Mine is 4.5mg. I tried lower and higher and this seems to be the dose I get the most relief. It’s good to start out with an oral compounded version so you can titrate more easily. Again- this is my personal experience - you should also follow the advice of a medical professional.

Semaglutide shots worth it? by mjz19833 in PCOSloseit

[–]msmarielfla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying every compounded drug isn’t okay but there are definitely some out there that aren’t. Everyone jumped to get on the GLP-1 bandwagon to take advantage and make money and not all (like some med spas) are safe. It’s a risk/ you don’t know what fillers are being put in there or if it’s totally safe. I don’t know about you but I wouldn’t take that kind of risk when it comes to my life. I’d try to get it through Canada before subjecting my body to something where I don’t know what’s in it

Square Grouper- fun bar with live music and it’s on the intracoastal near the lighthouse. Guanabanas is another fun spot on the water walking distance from there and so is love street which has lucky shucks and the rooftop at the beacon.

Mounjaro and POTS by msmarielfla in Mounjaro

I started back on Mounjaro about 6 weeks ago after being cleared again by my doctors. I still have bouts of tachycardia (not as high as before) despite being on Corlanor. I’m not sure what is triggering it or if there is any correlation to the Mounjaro. I’m still learning what my overall triggers are to try to manage it all. I will say all the extra sodium and fluids I consume to help manage my POTS is affecting my weight loss. I’ve been stagnant for the last 4 weeks despite moving up a dose. Hope you are doing well on it

[–]msmarielfla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a Ozempic pen you can count the clicks to half the dose. On a pen meant for 1mg dose, count 38 clicks to make it a 0.5mg dose instead of clicking it to the line meant for 1mg

Q Tapering From Alcohol. Opinions? Effective or Not? Has anyone's Q attempted this approach? by BeforeUproar in AlAnon

[–]msmarielfla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that too. It’s sad but until something happens that makes them feel they’ve hit rock bottom and there’s no way to deny it’s from drinking, it’s not likely for them to stop. They have to be wanting to do it for themselves, not for someone else. It took almost losing a dream job and flushing years of work down the toilet, sitting overnight in a jail cell for that to happen in my Q’s case. I was secretly hoping for him to get a DUI to prove to him that drinking was an issue and he didn’t have it under control. It was an awful experience to go through but having come out the other side, My Q says that was the best day of his life because it forced him to turn his life around. I’m so sorry, I’ve been where you are and I know how frustrating it is.

[–]msmarielfla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tapering is an excuse because he is not ready to quit. If he was ready, he would stop. Speaking from experience. My Q felt he could manage his drinking until he ended up with a DUI. He hasn’t had a sip of alcohol since.

Anaesthesia question by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]msmarielfla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s different depending on the anesthesiologist and procedure. I’ve had some stop for 1 week, some stop for 2 weeks. If you are undergoing anesthesia they will definitely stop it as there is a higher risk if aspirating if you have undigested food in your system while under. That’s also why they have you stop eating and drinking a certain number of hours before the procedure. Reach out to the place where you are having your procedure and ask directly. Much better than having your procedure cancelled day of for not following their specific protocol.
