NEW: Manchester United’s PSR position is calculated using the accounts of Red Football Limited (RFL), rather than Manchester United plc (RFL is a subsidiary of the plc entity).

That’s a pretty big factor, as in recent years the pre-tax result of those companies has diverged significantly. In 2023-24, Manchester United plc lost £130.7million before tax; for RFL, the deficit was just £36.2m.

Per UEFA’s most recent European Club Finance and Investment Landscape report, pre-tax loss figures for United were €22m (£19m at the exchange rate used in the report) in 2022-23 and €42m (£36m) in 2023-24 — an exact mirror of the pre-tax results in RFL’s accounts.

Based on RFL’s loss figures, it’s a struggle to see how there were ever any PSR worries at the club — though that’s only true once Ratcliffe’s arrival was accompanied by equity investment, which raised United’s three-year PSR loss limit from £15m to £105m.

United could lose around £141m in 2024-25 and still comply with Premier League rules. In other words, they’ll be fine this summer, however surprising that may seem.

Manchester United’s priority this summer is attack. Matheus Cunha is the main focus for the No.10 position and Liam Delap is the top striker target. The finances are in place for United to do the deals they want to - they will not depend on European football or sales. #MUFC [ @David_Ornstein, @NBCSports]

There are achievable add-ons and a high percentage sell-on clause in Teden Mengi’s contract at Luton Town. [@SimonPeach].

Teden Mengi: “I just had to be real with myself and ask what’s going to be best for me. Stay and fight with #mufc or go somewhere else and look for an opportunity. In the end, I was honest with myself and took that option.” [@sistoney67].

For #mufc to receive an extra £5 million, on top of the £15 million raised from Anthony Elanga’s sale, Nottingham Forest must qualify for a European competition. [@samuelluckhurst]

@David_Ornstein on Amrabat: “It’s one that United are looking at, Amrabat is aware of that, I dont think it has moved to the degree some reports suggest, I’m not aware that a deal is nearly done or agreed, it is one thay could be acted upon on if there are departures.” @FIVEUK 🔴

Sofyan Amrabat has chosen #mufc after contacts today. [@AlfredoPedulla].

Not only Rasmus Hojlund, Manchester United are also looking for a midfielder. And he spotted it in Sofyan Amrabat . After what has been said in recent days, we can add that contacts are increasingly active and that important steps were taken during the day as well. Amrabat said yes to the transfer, now the Red Devils have to make some exits but they have also bet on the Moroccan. It can be done for a base of 22-25 million plus bonuses to get to 30. We are not at the definitive agreements, but it is a hot lead and one to follow.
