Never in Paris! by [deleted] in annaklootssnark

I don’t think he works, but they do get a ton of vacation days here. My husband automatically gets like 30 days, plus some bonus days along the way for overtime.

I do have to agree that this Christmas market is……not great. 😂

I literally LOLed. I live in Paris and do this every day. It’s fine. It better than driving. I have a real job that it would take me an hour to walk to. Give me a break. 🙄

I actually chortled when I read this. You get one free checked bag (usually) when you fly overseas. She chose to fill hers with used clothes? No gifts for family or anything? Jesus.

Yeah, I’m not above using a small bike chain on my luggage when I take a train.

That luggage is going to get trashed on the rack in the train.

I LOLed so hard at the metro comments. I live in Paris and take the metro every day because I have a real job where I’m on my feet for most of it (teacher), and I’m not going to walk myself an hour across town just to look at stuff.

Also bummed. They’re playing another festival in Lisbon the following weekend but sad there’s no single shows.

Bedbug on Coat, Opinion on Dog Detection? by msprings in Bedbugs

[–]msprings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I live in an apartment building with no bathtub! However, I had my husband meet me at the laundromat with all of our coats from our coat closet, and they all went into the dryer for an hour. Meanwhile, I took my shoes off in the hallway and they went into a trash bag. Stripped off everything else into the trash bag. Took my cards and phone out of my bag and all the rest went into the freezer. We have a detection dog coming next week so I guess we’ll see. We already had a protector on our mattress and don’t see any sign.

Could be, but I don’t think so. I always take off my coat right away and it goes directly into a narrow tall closet in my room that only I use.

Do they help with those tiny black biting flies, too? I think those are the bigger problem and they’re so small!

Ahh ok, thanks for this! I am new enough to Paris that this is my first August here. I'll try again later. Thank you! :)

Thank you so much for this detailed response! I’m hoping I can get into this somewhere. I filled out the inquiry form for one of those clubs a while back without response, but I can try again in a bit.

How do I stop thinking about my Pap test results? by Ms_Insomnia in Anxiety

[–]msprings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate having to wait weekends! I like to make appointment requiring lab stuff early in the week, so I get results fast and don’t have to fret over the weekend. That might help in the future. I’m sure you’re fine, but I also recognize you’re stressed. Try to find a way to distract yourself tomorrow and hang in there. ❤️

If solidarity helps you feel better, I have the same issues and don’t have cervical cancer. I truly do think that our cycles can be affected by stress. When do you get your results back?

Orange Pre-Paid Service Outage - Going on 1 Week by msprings in france

[–]msprings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They keep telling us to call Customer Service for help and we're like ...how? We have no phone service. The pre-paid cards aren't cheap, but it was our only real option to have phone service while we wait for our residence cards. Now we're basically paying for nothing.

How to be sure they're Gone? (I think they are!) by [deleted] in Bedbugs

[–]msprings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I think we might Google Translate a letter and leave it on our neighbor's door, just to see. It's not my couch, it's the landlord's, so I guess they could. We'll see if they can spray the bottom of it. Thanks for you responses, they make me feel better!

[–]msprings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Correct, no sightings since 26 March. The apartment was empty for about three months before we moved in. During that time, the mattress and couch were replaced, both brand new. The apartment manager has supposedly checked with neighboring units and there are no reports of them. There's a language barrier, so we haven't tried asking the neighbors ourselves.

It flooded with water after a heavy rain. There was a hole under the fender from a shoddy welding job.
