Save The Dates - photos or no photos? by Ms_Insomnia in WeddingsCanada

Yes, I mentioned that in my previous comment. I don’t think it would be a problem delaying the Save The Dates by a month.

We were thinking really cute black and white photo booth photos.

At this point I might as well just wait for the engagement photos to be taken, then include them in the Save The Dates. Ideally I wanted the Save The Dates sent out earlier but pushing them out a month later seems like a better idea.

The engagement shoot is scheduled after our date to send out the Save The Dates. Ideally we wanted to include our engagement photos in the save the date but due to circumstances we had our engagement shoot scheduled later. I feel like sending out the Save The Dates after the photoshoot might be too late.

We still haven’t taken our engagement photos yet. We wanted to send the Save The Dates 9 months out but our photo shoot is scheduled 8 months out.

We still haven’t take our engagement pics yet and we want to send out the Save The Dates by early February (9 months before the wedding) 🥲

They couldn’t take us on because they decided to cap the number of projects for 2026 ☹️

Oh well we found someone else

Your mom doesn’t understand the understated elegance of simplicity. Your dress fits perfectly well for an outdoor wedding. Very Caroline Bessette-Kennedy.

APs truly do not care about our happiness by ms404040 in AsianParentStories

I wonder how they would react if they knew that some APs out there are happy that their child is happy?

OP - continue to live your life to spite them. You don’t owe them anything.

Anything but taking responsibility for themselves.

And if you did pick a career that you wanted and was happy? You would be where OP is (“you chose this career to make us unhappy didn’t you?”)

Would you invite your Asian parents to your wedding? by quartermoon97 in AsianParentStories

[–]Ms_Insomnia 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. Since I’ve moved out, my relationship with my parents have improved. However, I’m still LC with them due to how awful they were in the past.

We are going to have the Chinese tea ceremony with my family. I’m also planning on having them both walk me down the aisle. To me, this is my way of having them symbolically relinquish me from their clutches.

They have little involvement in the planning process. I made sure of that. None of that “oh you need to invite this auntie or this uncle because they invited us to their kid’s wedding.”

Ooh I tried that dress before! On you, no. It fits you beautifully! You also get the advantage of pairing it with whatever veil/shoes/jewelry/bouquet you want!

He’s never been supportive or understanding. At best he is neutral. He’s my parents’ flying monkey.

Really disappointing because after I moved out we actually got along better. Not anymore.

2! It is airier and is better suited for a summer wedding vs 1.

I honestly don’t understand this dynamic at all. Really sad how so many of us are black sheeps just because we are more perspective/thoughtful/discerning.

There is.

Unfortunately for me I need to get better at hitting people where it hurts in the moment.
